anybody else running in these? (Asics Gel-DS trainer X) If so how do you find them?

Yes, I run in these. I always find them in the cupboard near the front door.
hahaha cmon honestly now
.
They are not the lightest, but for me provide enough support to use on distances up to half marathon. If I am going longer then I use Kayanos or 2100s.
tried a pair on in the store the other day and ran on their treadmill for a while. Nice shoe. Very nice shoe. Light, comfortable. Feel fast yet stable. I like my Brooks Racer STs better though. A little wider in the forfoot and --though I’m not sure – feel lighter than the Asics and more like a racing flat to me.

I use these for tempo and track sessions and longer races, like Muskoka (15k) this weekend. I like having a little more cushoning and support than a flat for these types of workouts and races, but something that’s lighter and more flexible than a regular trainer.

Yeah i’ll be racing Tremblant with them this weekend. i’m looking forward to trying them out.
i was going to get the X but i got the previous years models instead. for $59, you can’t beat 'em. they’re my everyday training shoe plus i race in them. did placid last year with the XIII’s.
I’ll echo what Natasha said. (Hi, Natasha…good luck this weekend). I use mine for tempo runs, fartleks, longer races and the such. For 10k or shorter, I’ll use the Magic Racer…or this sweet new Japanese racing flat I’m wearing right now. One word: light!!!
I tried a pair but it’s WAY too much shoe for me. Too much structure, too much cushion, and I can’t feel the ground when I’m wearing them.
I went to a DS-Racer and I’ve been pretty happy with them (all distances).
Can’t get my wide-ass feet into a Magic, but am curious about those Japanese shoes Shawn was bragging about!

Hopefully, you can read Japanese. If not, let me paraphase…“wicked light, low-profile, no frills, track spike for the roads…”
And, NO, you can’t buy them, unless you go to Japan.
…Just set a new half-marathon PR in them last weekend at Lake Placid and plan on using them at IMLP. Fantastic shoe!
Hmmmm. I’ve tried on a couple of pairs of the X, and I found them tighter towards the forefoot than the IX. I loved the feel of them for the first 10-15 minutes, then felt the potentially for chafing/blisters. I’ll be encouraged to perservere with them if none of you have experienced this!
I can, I’m in Japan
At the moment I am trying 2 different sorts of Asics:
O’HanaRacer : http://www.asics.co.jp/ohana/index.html
=Very similar to the DS Magic Racer
Hayate:

These things are like a pair of slippers. Closest thing to bare feet that I have run in. I’ve done 10km’s in them so far and looking forward to trying them in a half sometime soon.
I’m not sure you can get either of these outside Japan though.
well i’ll let you know after my race on the weekend, I’m pretty confident they’ll be fine tho.
I use them for every day running and like them very much but I’m not a big guy (147lbs) and find them to be very cushy.
I use the DS Trainer for racing and shorter faster runs, it’s not enough shoe for me for doing longer stuff but I’m working up to them.

im using my brooks st s …ive used in stand alone marathons…how would imcda marathon work after bike…maybe ill have a more supportive shoe ready in special needs at 13 miles…but ive run several stand alone marathons in st ss…curious
.
I have been using the DSTrainers, but recently purchased 2100 for longer runs etc, and notices that they do not fit as good as the DS Trainers, they are to wide in the heel for me…any other reccomendations???
a couple of months ago i bought the saucony hurricane grid 6. nice shoe but heavy and not very soft. bought the dx trainers and they fit like a glove, really like them although they are a little tight in the fore foot. use them every other day but i’m only up to 7 miles a run in them
Great training shoe, even for long runs. Did a marathon in them with no problems. I like the racer and lighter for 10K and under, but I can’t do a marathon in those. They are light at 10.5 oz (size 9) and seem fairly durable.
