Asics 2120s

Just got a pair of these and wanted to pass along that mine are 40 grams (1.4 ozs) lighter per shoe than my 2110s. Looks like the whole product line from Asics is getting lighter. They guy at the running store said the Kayano and the DS trainers are lighter too.

8 miles in them last night and they feel pretty good.

cool, I have a pair in the box in my closet that I’ll be breaking out in the next few weeks. I have to say, with the exception of maybe the 2050’s the lineup from inception with the 2001’s has been a great line of shoes to run in.

I used the 2110’s also and they were a good pair of shoes. As they reached the end of their running life they began to give me knee and hip problems. I’ve used Asics in the past and found them to be a good brand of shoe. I now train in a pair of Adias Supernovas which have great cushioning. It took a couple of short runs to get used to but now I’ll do 20 milers with no problem. They are coming up on 400 miles and so far so good as far as the hips and knees go. In December the running stores have pre marathon sales so I’ll be shopping for some new trainers and lightweight trainers for next year.

I’m thinking of doing some trail running too, anyone got some likes or dislikes about trail shoes?

I don’t know what your trails are like, but here in AZ they are rocky, gravely (is that a new word?) dirt, sand type trails with the occasional cactus ball of stickers on them and the occasional rattlesnake to avoid. I’ve run in the Asics line on them, never used a trail shoe, never had a problem. Have used them also on the trails around Pittsfield MA with no problem except they are not great at gripping fallen trees over creeks in the rain.

I’m here on Oahu and we have a lot of tree roots, dirt, rocks and in some areas sand. I thought of going out in some old trainers first to get a feel for running the trails. I’ve done hiking but want to try something different for training. I guess I’ll need to check out Tai who works at one of the local running stores.

Sorry for the highjack.

I got a pair last week. They felt narrower in the mid-foot area than any of the 2090’s, 2100’s, or 2110’s I’ve run in (the transitions between those models were seamless for me). I’ve heard the mid-sole is supposed to be stiffer than the 2110’s. They felt o.k. for the first couple of runs (4 & 20 miles), but then my right foot really started to hurt on the next 5 runs (at the protrusion on outside near the mid-foot). Now my foot looks bruised. Who knows, maybe I had the Yankz cinched up a bit tight. I ran in a old pair of 2110’s this morning and my foot felt much, much better. I’ll try putting regular laces in and giving them another shot, but I may need to find another shoe.

I hope you have better luck than me.

I think some stores are closing out the 2110s now. I just bought 2 pairs of 2110s on sale at Sports Authority this weekend. They were $53 (plus I had a 10% coupon). May not be the best price around, but I thought it was pretty good.

Sorry to hear that, heal up soon.
