The other party’s problem is not that you were condescending. You weren’t condescending. The other party’s problem is that you *weren’t *condescending. You addressed her as if she was a real grown up capable of reasoned discussion. That’s not what she wants. She wants to be coddled as if she was a child, and told how good she is, and how she says the most clever things, and so on.

You can’t fight it.
