Just me?
I’m not a republican. I still have the same 3 bozos “representing” me in Washington.
I do hope that both the White House and Republicans honor what they said they will do and try to have some compromise over the next 2 years. Thought I will not be surprised if that does not happen.
Can’t vote, but given it looks like the pubs will control both houses, I am very interested as to what they will do next. Talk is cheap, so what tangible things will they try to accomplish. My worry is they try for meaningless political points.
Nothing big will even get to the floor of the Senate because the Dems will threaten to filibuster. And if something does pass Obama will veto it and there aren’t enough votes to override it. Am I wrong?
I guess it depends. Hasn’t thought about filibuster. What are the numbers?
I doubt the pubs will be filibuster proof, but will they be close enough to swing a couple of dems on certain issues?
I guess we will have a better idea tomorrow when hard numbers are in, but you have a point.
Sorry, my parliamentary view of politics got in the way there.
I don’t know if anything will happen and that’s OK; all I know is that cocksucker Harry Reid won’t be on TV everyday anymore.
What from tonight’s results makes you think americans want compromise. For years now, all we have heard is how Republicans have been obstructionist, have had no desire to work with Obama, and that the gov’t shutdown was going to cost them. Yet here we are, they have beat those beating this drum big time. Sure, they might want compromise, but definitely in the directions of what republicans are selling.
Look at it, Mass and Maryland, now have Republican governors.
Weird thing. I’m typing this, and now they are talking about this thing.
Well, the Good news, there are fewer Democrats in office!
The Bad news, there are more Republicans in office.
Perfect

Massachusetts has a history of Republican governors. Mitt Romney. William Weld.

I think this is what the Democrats can salvage. Harry Reid was a pox upon the party for moderate voters, I was completed disgusted with him.
In the long run, this may be a win for the party to get rid of him as a major public face for the party.
I'm pretty happy with the results for a couple of reasons. I'm in GA, and we expected at least the senate, if not gov as well, too go to runoff, which would have meant 8+ more weeks of scumbag ads from either side. Also, as a fairly strident Harry Reid detractor, I'm very happy to see him lose the power to control the senate legislative agenda.
Pubs have over 300 bills that they sent to the senate, where Reid just refused to bring them up, leading to greater disfunction. There are some areas where dems and pubs would work together (eg Keystone XL, agreement on some FP issues, etc) and get legislation to Obama's desk. Certainly Obama could adjust, work with his "enemies", and have a fruitful, if not as lefty, final two years. I've already noted my expectation of him, and don't think he is capable of working with others, just too arrogant, insular, and far left.
I just can’t see Obamas ego letting him pull a second term Clinton to save his legacy. Legacy lol.
Well if nothing else Jimmy Carter is happy as hell today.
Wait you said Obama is far left. Didn’t you hear he’s a moderate. Just ask dems.

I can’t wait to see if Obam’s arrogance will fade away now that Reid can’t run interference for him and squash everything in sight. Barry has to put on his big boy pants and do some work or fill his veto pen with ink. Will be interesting to watch this one unfold.

Massachusetts had Republican governors from 1991 through 2007.

Honest question. How many of those 300 bills were political stunt type of bills like repealing the ACA?
I have no love for Reid, but I don’t think that McConnel will be any better. I know it won’t happen, but if the republican’s are smart they will pick somebody else as leader without McConnel’s baggage. Pick somebody who won’t be a target for all the things he or she has said in the past. Pick somebody who can take a constructive republican agenda and try to make it work.
I’m not a republican, but the republican’s won. If they are smart they will bring forward an agenda of positive things that they can get accomplished and not spend the new two years trying to settle scores or make political points that are not necessarily constructive in moving America forward.
Now we get to see/hear Droopy Dog:

Whether true or not, MD’s turn to a GOP Governor is being claimed as a revolt against increased taxes during the O’Malley administration.
Due remember Ehrlich was Governor before O’Malley. So the past 2 of 3 Governors are GOP.
I’m excited that Harry Reid is out of a job…the most dishonorable person in politics, IMHO.
That being said, I’m not going to hold my breath for the Republicans to do anything to actually keep their jobs. If all they do is send Obamacare up for votes over and over again, you can bet in 2016 the Senate will go back Democrat.
