For those who have not fallen victim to doping fatigue yet, a fairly detailed explaination of how Contador went from being banned from the Tour to being allowed to wear yellow a year later.
Thanks for the link
odd to see that disco signed 3 of the 9
What I fail to understand is a clean guy dominated the tdf(LA) No one on PEDS could keep up. Maybe it is a sad fact that the gear is holding them back. Testing procedures are always challenged, chain of custody bla bla bla. That make me wonder if the system is so wrong how many false negatives have we seen.
If the chicken didn’t start because of missing the test fine, to use that as an excuse now is kinda chicken sh
Contador was cleared by the drug dealer enough said
Who said Lance was clean?
I believe the fact that he hasn’t ever had a positive test says he was clean.
There was no test for blood doping with your own blood, or epo at the time lance raced. He passed his tests the same way that Ullrich and Basso passed theirs.

- I guess it’s possible that he was using some untraceable technology, but the man has been tested so much he looks like a pin-cushion. To suggest that you may have some knowledge that the entire world (including the Spanish Inquisition known as WADA) couldn’t find is just getting old and annoying. Lacking same, give it a rest. For the record, the man is documented as clean. Even WADA has given up hope of getting anything on him.

Lance and anyone else can extract their own blood, pump it back in between 3 and 6 weeks later, and go faster.
You can do this today, you could do it then.
This is not proof that Lance doped. But if you are mystified by how Lance beat people who got caught doping (like ullrich and basso, who also never tested positive, but who got caught red handed) there is a simple explanation available.
There has been a test for EPO since 2000, you think they weren’t testing Lance even in 2005?
Oh crap, elwood, I found proof that lance isn’t clean:

IPOD!!!
I think by that year he probably switched to blood doping like ullrich and basso
.

There was a test for EPO in Lance’s latter years. In fact when Lance/Postal came under investigation by the French authorities (Not the TDF, but the French Legal system) they ordered back testing of all the prior years samples from Lance and all of Lance’s team. So even if EPO testing wasn’t possible in 2001, the samples taken at the time were still tested.
Guess what the French labs, scientists etc found
NOTHING. NOTHING. NOTHING.
They were so bemused at finding nothing that they kept testing and testing and testing and still never found anything. They took a year to do all this and finally had to admit that they couldn’t find anything. However the total absence of any doping evidence whatsoever did in no way oblige them to pronouce Lance clean or issue an apology. Of course not.
Agreed for the Blood doping problem as long as the subject’sown blood is used. There is no test.
And… if you don’t believe that then I will repeat my most scientific argument
Lance is an anagram of Clean! The answer is hidden in the question.
I not here to defend the actions of the french. The original person I responded to found Lances ability to beat a bunch of dopers mystifying.
I offered up a simple explanation.
The response to my explanation was that he must be lean because he passed the test.
This is obviously madness, of course he would pass the test, the test can’t detect one of the easiest, most common, and most effective ways to cheat!
Doesn’t mean he did, just means it is possible.
The chicken has passed all his tests as well, for what its worth. As did Vino for years until today, as did everyone in Operation Puerto.
So how did Vino get caught now and not before. The technique he used has a reliable test in place for 3 years now?
- Did he change doping strategy?
- If he did then why change to one that is sure to get caught
- What was he doing before then
- Did he just try something out of desperation to try and get back up the GC?
- what a stupid move then
- Does he have a method to use the current strategy that normally doesn’t get caught and just got sloppy?
I don’t know what Vino did wrong. What bearing does that have on the fact that any tour rider who has been testing clean can be bumping their hematocrit to 50 with a simple, common procedure while avoiding detection?
Do you just want to argue with someone about stuff? I can pass you my instant messenger handle…
Simple. He thought he was boosting with his own blood (wouldn’t get caught) and mistakenly boosted with someone elses.
if it is a true positive not a french lab conspiracy, chain of custody, not me, the aliens did it thing Then I would bet that he burnt his own supply quicker than he wanted to. Just a guess but the injuries might be the cause of that

Nope, sorry, I’m not trying to be argumentative for the sake of it.
I’m confused, surprised, saddened and perplexed that it appears that they are still able to get away with so much.
I’m confused that if they are so good at it, that they get caught
I’m saddened that they guy I was starting to root for (Rasmussen) got kicked out and probably rightly so because I’m not sure of a valid explanation of why he would want to disguise his whereabouts.
I’m surprised about the amount of knowledge regarding doping on this forum. There’s stuff I’m learning about which I regret learning the moment I read it.
I’m upset to think that I may be competing against AGers who dope.
I’m now reticent about rooting for any rider in the future in case they turn out to be a doper. And rooting for the riders, teams, characters is part of the pleasure of watching the sport.
It’s a horrible subject which nevertheless needs to be addressed, but perhaps I’m too naive because it seems that every time something gets uncovered it seems that the reality is worse that I expected and justifies the cynicism of the cynics. I hate it when the cynics are right!!
Yeah I hear ya
.
my comments my have been a little smart a**. But after reading your last post I have to totally agree. Biking has always been a break from real life a time to fly like a kid. To see my heroes falling by the wayside is just really sad.
I can tell you when I lost it for pro cycling. I was watching a guy I admired to the end of the world. He came across the line in a time trial so dehydrated that he almost killed himself. I sat with head in hands crushed. Not that he had fought through to finnish and not give up much time. Then to see my hero recover so quickly to win again. I must say that I can not be certian that incident was caused by the introduction of substances but it ended my child like view of cycling. How does a pro forget to hydrate? or was it just a bad reaction to something else.
this year i cheered Vino and even Ras but I am not crushed anymore. Its just sad reflection of the world we live in

Drugs cannot improve cycling efficiency 10% as Lance did, documented by Coyle. If Lance figured out how to improve his efficiency and the other riders didn’t that could explain his dominance without needing to resort to using drugs. That doesn’t mean he didn’t dope, but all those negative tests and that documented 10% efficiency improvement certainly suggests that Lance was clean, even though he was dominant, even against the dopers.
