Art, PLEASE come back

Your party’s representation on this forum has been taken over by the know nothings? I have learned my lesson. Please return and give us completely biased and stubborn INTLLIGENT debate. Wahhhhh

Now that says something about the recent offerings here; I just expressed the same sentiment in a PM about 1 hour ago. I much prefer Art’s brand of insanity to what we’ve been left with.

I agree. I would love to see Art back. This place was over run with the left during the election and it forced out many of us on the right. I classify myself as right of center but I don’t have the time to put forth the fine arguments Art did.

art - some good some bad

I would put a vote in for vitus as well. He could be very clever and even insightful at times.

Hopefully BK will be responding intelligently after his 100 day hiatus, as he is well capable of doing, and not with his blather during the election

This forum appears to be a pretty accurate reflection of the level of discourse on the right at the national level. Rush is the de facto leader of the GOP, followed in no particular order by his lieutenants, Coulter, Hannity, Malkin and O’Reilly. All frothy mouthed lunatics whose vitriol and the sheer volume of their rants have all but drowned out any reasoned discourse from the right. If you aren’t yelling and screaming abuse at the left you aren’t a true soldier and therefore a Quisling of some sort not to be listened to or trusted.

There are a few, Alex Castellanos for example is a reasonable, well spoken, and rational voice for the right…but you won;t see him ever being a standard bearer for the GOP the way Rush is.

You can count on two fingers the spokes people for the “right” on this forum that A. make any sense, and B. aren’t yelling personal abuse all day.

Art is up to his armpits in plaster.

I just called and relayed this post to him. You just made his day!

he is in a body cast - what happened??

Election Day convulsions. The old bones just couldn’t bear the stress.

I’d like to see him back. Vitus also. I never agreed with either of them that often, but they are missed.

No he is rehabbing a house all by himself.

I am thinking the combination of the plaster fumes and talking to the dogs all day about conservative values is making him miss you guys A LOT!

Hopefully BK will be responding intelligently after his 100 day hiatus, as he is well capable of doing, and not with his blather during the election

Hey, I *like *that blather. Believe me, after a full day of acting like I’m some sort of managerial god, donning hoplite armor and picking up a whacking big cheap-rhetorical-device club with which to cudgel others into senselessness is just what *I *need

That, and chocolate covered cherries and some photos of unicorns. Then I’m all set.

BK

I miss Vitus. Man his leaving was sad. I also miss Monk. He was SMART and a good debater.

Do tell him I said hello, and that I share in his misery. My keyboard is covered in caulk and sawdust as I type.

(and wish him a Happy Darwin Day for me!)

Barry,

We do need Art back; you and I almost agreed on a couple of things this week - What is the world coming to?

This forum appears to be a pretty accurate reflection of the level of discourse on the right at the national level. Rush is the de facto leader of the GOP

I’d disagree with that and say that he most desires his particular brand of *Conservatism *become the sole voice of the GOP. Bad idea, I think, but it’s not up to me.

…followed in no particular order by his lieutenants, Coulter, Hannity, Malkin and O’Reilly.

Who all proclaim themselves *Conservatives *first and Republicans a distant second. Except for O’Reilly, who seems to think himself some sort of proud independent voice who’s looking.out.for.you.

**All frothy mouthed lunatics whose vitriol and the sheer volume of their rants have all but drowned out any reasoned discourse from the right. **

Randi Rhodes? Al Franken? Jane Hamsher? John Conyers (who’s fixated on trying the last president for war crimes or something)? I think the far left has as many loons as the far right does. Most of the Left would hope for people like Kathleen Parker or George Will and the like to be the dominant personalities within the Republican Party, but I notice that’s not the case within the actual conglomeration of interests which calls itself the GOP these days, many of whom are engaged in a power struggle for control of the direction the party will take. Besides, that’s what political parties *do. *You know; stand in opposition where they feel they must and cooperate with the other side when they can. Dems have won handily over the last two elections, for various reasons, so I’d say “why all the worry?” It seems to me the Left would *want *the Right (as opposed to the GOP-proper) to continue on down the same path. It may just be the way to cement lefty dominance for a full generation.

**If you aren’t yelling and screaming abuse at the left you aren’t a true soldier and therefore a Quisling of some sort not to be listened to or trusted. **

Refer to my first two points. These folks find themselves more comfortable within the GOP, but I think they’d as soon scarper off with the party’s silverware, if push came to shove, and form their own party if they thought there’d be enough of a dynamism to their philosophy to attract a wide swath of the electorate. Look at it this way: Without their presence within a very tolerant GOP (Specter, Snowe and Collins just proved how tolerant it can be) they’d have no real voice. Maybe it’s a symbiotic relationship of some kind, I dunno.

sorry - just couldn’t resist the up to his armpits in plaster image

INTLLIGENT debate

Why cast pearls before the swine?

This pleases me greatly.

I’d like to see him back. Vitus also.

No doubt. It’s good to see that BK is back.

It was easy to be Art, Vitus, BK and others when you could merely call anyone whodidnt agree with your position anti-American and unpatriotic for merely suggesting that the Bush administration and the Republican party weren’t exactly taking this country in the right direction. It has now been proven without a shadow of a doubt that their positions for years have been wrong, and they not credible.

I would hope that the Art & Co. would not take the current approach of Rush and many on this board which is to sit around bitching about Obama without cause. The previous administration fucked us and was supported by the Right while he was doing it, and less than a month into the job (trying to fix 8 years of incompetence) he can do nothing right? Give me break.
