It’s quite possible that I’m wrong, but I don’t think anyone was serious about him beating her. I can’t imagine anyone really cares.
As for him being the dumb ass… you and I will never know what happened. Relationships are complex, and often there isn’t one person to blame for them going bad. We all should just leave it at that.

Wow! How does a non-athlete start running 4 months before a marathon and end up with a 3:48? She either has amazing genes or trained her butt off - probably a little of both. I would kill to be able to run that fast and I’m training for my second marathon and been running (on and off) for 4 years!

To answer your question: a lean gal plus no job (outside the home) and a nanny to help with the 3 kids? (= lots and lots of time to train and rest)

yeah, i read that article in runner’s world. it made me not like her. she says “maybe lance would be happy for me?” that’s pretty mean…c’mon, do you really think a husband/father wouldn’t at least be happy or impressed his former wife finished a marathon and did so respectably…plus, i don’t agree that she’s a great writer, kind of boring. Plus, i agree with the guy who said, its pretty easy to train when you have 2 awesome training partners and no job and a nanny…the tone is just bitchy overall, she’s kinda bitter in that article
It is easy…She was running for more than 4 months. She probably meant she started a marathon program for 4 months. I used to live in Austin and saw her around a bit. Here is a pic from the Congress ave mile she ran on March 22, 2003.

Doubt he’ll run NYC if it persists.
