Enjoyed the review of the Arione and would certainly agree on all points, however, I am curious about one thing. Dan said " already one of the two or three best saddles for a steep bike upon which I’ve yet ridden". I am curious what the other two are. Also, what are your 3 favorite Road saddles.
My favorite road saddle is the Brooks B17, by far. Once broken in (100 miles), I never looked back. My road bike is strictly a training vehicle, so the heavy weight is no drawback; it just makes my race bike feel all the zoomier.
FYI, we have a Fizik Arione Triathlon saddle in our possession, and I will update everybody here what the ride on it feels like.
The padding on the nose is substantially thicker, but more so taller than wider.
I’ll keep you posted.

I really like the Arione on my road bike. But, you’re saying they have a Triathlon version, too? I hope I don’t regret buying a Visiontech Triathlon saddle…should be arriving today. The Azoto just seemed “overdone” to me, and the Arione a little too sparse for triathlons.

No such thing. That’s a fact we’ve got to accept. Went out for my first semi long ride of the season a few days ago on the Arione. I would never call it Cadillac comfort, but at least I wasn’t reminded constantly about my crotch while riding, which is quite an improvement over anything else that I’ve tried.
You are right, of course…there isn’t a perfect saddle. If you liked the Arione on your first ride out, you’ll like it more and more as you go. It keeps getting better, at least for a while…mine is. It seems like a good road saddle, better than anything I’ve been on recently, but, I don’t think I want it on my Triathlon ride…that’s why I ordered the Visiontech…hopefully it is between the Azoto and Aspide in “nose padding”. I couldn’t see them in person, don’t know anyone that has seen all three of them side-by-side, so I had to go by the pictures…not the best way to buy a saddle, but, my only choice at the moment.
I currently have a “regular” Arione on my road and my tri bike. We literally got the sample Tri Arione saddle the day after Dan posted the review. Another guy in the office is currently testing it, and I’ll be testing it after my return from Sea Otter.

Isn’t the Visiontech saddle a renamed Azoto? From the pictures it looks identical, other than the colors.
I don’t actually know. But, I did get my Visiontech today…it doesn’t seem as wide as the pictures I’ve seen of the Azoto. I’ll know by tomorrow evening if it works for me or not.

Me too. I have no problems with my regular Arione on my tri bike and I’ve already done several centuries on it. I must admit though that I am a bit curious to see this new Arione tri-saddle.
