Are you smarter than your younger siblings?

Just curious.

Oldest Sister: Valedictorian
Middle Sister: Salutatorian
Me: Graduated with honors but not even in the top 10

We haven’t compared IQ scores recently but that’s proof enough, right? :frowning:

Thanks for validating what I already knew: I am smarter. :stuck_out_tongue:

Even though he has a masters in Aerospace Engineering. And I have a BFA.

My IQ did test higher though… if you believe the tests are accurate, which I think is worthy of debate…

Not only smarter, but better looking too! My poor brother.

Nope, not even close. My younger sister has a much higher IQ and was valedictorian in H.S. and tested completely out of the first year of college. Health-wise though I’m the smarter one.

**Health-wise though I’m the smarter one. **

Hmmm. That works. The LR Process has spoken and… the hypothesis still holds true. Who else?

My mom always says that my eldest brother(eldest of 5) is the smartest.
He ended up dropping out of university and the rest of us have 2 degrees each.

I consider that proof that mom was right.

My little sister is way smarter than I am. She’s an MD. I’m an accoutant.

I’ve been thinking of this today as I’ve read the reports and heard the coverage on NPR. In terms of book smartness and scholarly ability, yes, I’m way smarter than my younger brother. IQ-wise, maybe (they quit doing those things about the time I hit elementary school). In terms of mechanical know-how, spatial organization, and problem solving? He kicks my ass hands-down.

My brother is going to be 28 in November and still doesn’t know how to spell “probably.” He dropped out of college after two pathetic semesters, but went on to graduate with highest honors from one of the most respected technical institutes in the country. He is currently neck-deep in rebuilding the automatic tranny in a 2004 Oldsmobile Alero AND in the midst of a complete overhaul of a 1978 Chevy pick-up, he’s helping his boss reconfigure the business model at the garage where he works, AND he’s raising a two-year-old on his own, AND he knows more about building and spiffing up 4-cylinder engines than anyone this side of Tokyo. I have three degrees and no job. Go figure.

My husband (the younger sibling) has an equally confounding intellectual relationship with his older sister. She is easily one of the smartest people I know, in terms of sheer ability to absorb and repackage information. She remembers things like no one I’ve met. She did not finish the ungodly expensive liberal arts school she attended, and uses her big brain to manufacture hand-sewn items which she sells for pittance on eBay. My hubby, who was written off for stupid after wallowing through school with undiagnosed learning disabilities, managed to get degrees in engineering and philosophy while serving in the National Guard and playing in both the State and University Symphony Orchestras. Go figure.

I’m the youngest of three boys. My oldest brother certainly holds the edge in the “book smarts” realm. He’s quite the brain.

My middle brother and I can fix anything on this planet without a manual to guide us, however. We “just know” mechanical stuff.

Oh yeah, my middle brother is a better welder, FWIW.

Hmmm, I know more about spending money on bike parts that alledgedly allow me to go faster. My little sis can arrest parolees and she gets to carry a badge and a cannon on her hip. I think it’s a push.
