Or are you just a Lance fan?
Real cycling fan here, and proud of it too!

Neither.
Give me a good race with a good DVD so I can watch while I ride the trainer.
Approximately 0.0% of the cycling DVDs I watched during IM training had Lance.
(Paris-Roubaix, bunch of other French and Flemish places I can’t pronounce)

Personally, I’m kinda sick of Lance. I appreciate what he’s done and what he’s overcome and I agree that his comeback is exciting… but I wish there were more media coverage about OTHER cyclists. Especially female pros.
Option C: lacking the base insecurity that would compell one to denigrate others sharing a similar passion, regardless of their motivation…
.
Does it really matter?
I mean, isn’t the important thing getting more people interested in cycling? It shouldn’t matter whether someone gets interested because of Lance or because of the other riders.
But thanks for letting us know that you’re better because you are a “real” cycling fan, as opposed to the other people who became fans for different reasons.
???
Great. Thanks.
There are lots of other “cycling” forums too … cross, road, track, MTN or whatever in the hell you mean …
How exactly do you define “real cycling fan”?

O.K. I’ll bite. Who had the nickname in his country as the “great champion” for years? Who won, after the Tour, a 24 plus hour race? Who lost by a punch in the kidneys? What was the biggest race in the U.S. in the 80’s. Sorry, but trying to ask questions that are a little hard to google. Again, just signed in, yet trolloing. By the way you just responded to me two minutes ago. So what kind of cycling fan are you? If you are younger, just report some things, like the kimmelberg?
just report some things, like the kimmelberg?
That’d be the Kemmelberg would it Ace? LOL
Seeing as I have followed the sport since the Merckxx days i would say cycling fan. The one good thing about lance’s return is the increased live coverage and the US media’s involvement but it still is a great sport.
I became a cycling fan because of Lance.
He’s still one of the great over the top personalities in the sport, but now I know he’s not the only one nor my favorite.
Triathlon fan.
Option C: lacking the base insecurity that would compell one to denigrate others sharing a similar passion, regardless of their motivation…
x 2.
I was going to answer: Both
But you were much more concise.
I’m glad I had the opportunity to find out for sure. Lance was just beginning his comeback from cancer as I was getting into professional cycling. I was a fan thru all 7 of his wins. Starting around win 5, I started wondering if I was a cycling fan or a Lance fan. After his retirement, I was happy to find that I was still into it as much as I was during his “first” heyday.

Sure would. My spelling is quite bad…The rest was giving the first poster a hard time;)
