This is an oldish topic.

And no I don’t see this aspect of triathlon getting any bigger.

Bottom line:
In spite of his wealth and power, this guy still finished 427th.
And he probably even trained pretty hard for that mediocrity.

He could buy a better outcome somewhere else.

And no-one is fooled by this corporate challenge nonsense.

Golf is still golf.

Although cycling has become a little like golf. Boss bought a nice road bike, and all the brownnosers also buy a nice road bike and ride together to a beer garden or starbucks on the weekends. But it’s nothing near like golf. Billion dollar business deals are closed on golf courses.

actually started chatting with a guy a couple of years ago when we were bothing getting sushi take out. Turns out that he was either an investor or publisher of Bicycling… He said that Biking was the new golf… From where I live, I’d say yes… as we have both the CC types & many hardcore very strong cyclists in our community. Very few do both…
i’d say tri isn’t far behind & yes, an old topic

Yeah, still golf, then cycling.

For triathlon to get there it will require something special. I can’t see what that is.

^^^^This.

Thanks to Strava Flybys networking on rides got a lot easier.

Swimming and running are just too hard for people of different abilities to do together.

To be fair, I know a lot of C level folks that play golf and suck at it. They’ll tell you they shoot under 80, but they don’t count all strokes. Nobody calls them out on it. In a tri or any race, the time is the time, can’t cheat
