i’ve done a little bit of looking around and there aren’t many, at least not what i can find. seriously considering stepping up the 140.6 distance, but i don’t want to “wing it” with my training, as i kinda have in the past 70.3s i’ve done.
Yes-go to your local library and look for authors Joe Friel, Gale Bernhardt, and/or Matt Fitzgerald. All three will have training plans in their books that you can copy and use free of charge.
I’m doing this one now for Redman on 9/24. It’s worked well from a structured plan standpoint…but I didn’t start 36 weeks out…I started w/ the Competitive Season. I think the 36 week out start is for somone that is literally rolling off the couch.
We’ll see how it actually worked from race standpoint in a few weeks, but I do like his detailed workouts during the week.
best money I’ve spent has been on a training plan and a powermeter.
Add up all the money for your gear, kit, and bike, the plan is just a drop in the bucket. We invest a lot of precious time into following a training plan for the months leading up to an A-race; my advice is to make the most of the time you have.
The free plans are like maps with only the major cities and highways on them. It will get you there, but there is a better, easier, and faster way.
of course, if you dont have a drop in the bucket, the free plans beat nothing. Check out BeginnerTriathlete.com.
