Are there any Christian Triathlon groups in the Midwest, Wisconsin area? I found a few that werent near my races scheduled. But i cant find any near the wisconsin, milwaukee area? Also, to anyone looking to start something in the area I would love to help out.
I know there’s a Christian CYCLING group that is pretty much nation-wide, but the name escapes me at the moment. DOn’t know of any Christian tri groups anywhere, let alone the Midwest (don’t live there).
I’m not sure where they are located, but check out the Athletes In Action Triathlon website: http://www.aiatriathlon.com/

call tom on the aia triathlon website. he is an awesome guy. i know there is a guy in chicago who is the midwest coordinator and tom could hook you up with him. if you look around there is also a partial roster on the page and you could see if there are any guys from wisconsin.
Send me an email or pm. i’d love to chat more.
What is a Christian triathlon group?
I’m not trying to start anything here, I’m simply curious.

Its not a bad question and the answer is pretty simple. A Christian triathlon group is a group of Christians who also happen to race Triathlons and use the venue as a way of impacting the world for Christ.
Besides for Athlete’s in Action Triathlon the there is also Fellowship of Christian Athletes Endurance http://www.fcaendurance.com/ that you might want to take a look into or the International Christian Triathlon Network http://www.ictrinet.com/aboutus/ for some other links.
…race Triathlons and use the venue as a way of impacting the world for Christ.
Again, I really hope this doesn’t come across as I’m getting at anything (I’m not), what does that mean?

I don’t want to turn this into a Lavender Room thread discussing if religion and faith should be intermingled, but it means using Triathlons and the contact made with people at the races as an evangelism tool, spreading the Gospel and talking about the love of Jesus and the impact he has made on my life. With Athletes in Action this is done by having a tent set up at various races and sharing our stories with those who stop at the tent.
Thanks

Take this topic out of here…Like government and schools sports(triathlon) should be free of any kind religious involment.
easy now.
no harm done.
a question was asked and it is being answered with some clarification.
no one is pushing anything on anyone, nor attempting, and clearly not using the thread as a veiled attempt to do so. be glad there are folks in this world, and this sport, who have a passion. we need more of that. if nothing else, appreciate the sincerity being displayed.

Excuse me but we do not need any more of that.
This is a public triathlon forum and when you post a religious organization’s web site address basically what you are doing is promoting it.
obviously two clear viewpoints. i would simply suggest that the subject of the initial post might have given you some indication of the subject matter and potential responses.
since it is public, and you have the choice, you are under no obligation to open the thread and read the material you clearly knew up front would somehow find offensive.
The thread was posted for a question which has been answered. You said you don’t want an argument of religion on here, but made it into an argument. There was no propaganda until the arguments were made. Since the question is answered, if this thread is left alone, it will just drift down the board and everybody’s happy.

I think that’s funny.
I think you are confusing two different concepts of the term “public”.
Government and public schools are public entities funded by taxes. In this context, public has to do with source of funding and control. Citizens in a given locality have only one government and one public school system – not a range of choices in the public domain.
The other concept of public, I think, has to do with access. For example, a public restroom inside of a privately owned building like a shopping mall. The owners of this property grant public access for various reasons. This restroom is not built and maintained with public tax dollars and it is not the only restroom in town.
I think triathlons, internet forums and any particular thread on this forum are more like the latter concept of public.

is that jessi stensland on the fca endurance web page? she really is everywhere!
I wonder if the Christian Traithlon organizations are doing as much recruiting for triathlon within their churches as they are spreading the Gospel within the tri community?
Thank you for all the responses. Really, i am just a college triathlete and i have a hard time meeting people with the same beliefs and principles as myself. Youd be surprised how hard it is to find another christian triathlete near the college. Spreading information for my personal beliefs is given to people who show interest, and not thrown in your face, thus the non bold\underlined\italicized subjecthead This forum was a great way to ask eveyone if they knew of a triathlon club that shared my interests so i can focus my time better on things impacting my life and get help with the sport as well.
