I am looking at purchasing a P4 and want to do SRAM red for components. Presently using Dura Ace on a P2C. I have invested a bit of money in different cassettes. I just got tired of moving them from one wheel to another.
I am concerned if with SRAM I will be able to use my existing Shimano cassettes or will need new cassettes?
I routinely swap between my SRAM RED race wheel (HED90) and training rear wheel with Shimano 105 cassette without any problem. Haven’t had to adjust the cable tension or anything.
If they are at least 8 speed, then yes.
I’m running a Red 1090 Powerdome cassette on both my Red-equipped road bike (with 1090R chain) and Dura Ace TT bike (with DA 7801 chain.) Works great on both. The only downside to the Powerdome is the occasional comment from someone who doesn’t understand how the Powerdome is built and tells you your drivetrain is loud and you need to get it adjusted…
