I’ve got a PT2.4 Wireless that I just upgraded to the new firmware - which is the Ant+ update. I also have 2 Garmin straps from my 305. All of the markings on the back of all 3 straps are identical (FCC ID #, IC# - whatever the hell those are, ANT+Sport markings, etc.) The straps certainly look identical. Here’s the interesting thing. The Garmin 305 will read an HR from either strap, while the PT will only read from the PT strap. Any ideas if they should be compatible or not?
you can set up the PT to read the Garmin strap. You just have to go through the menu and allow it to ‘learn’ the strap.
I got my Garmin 305 to read my PowerTap strap and I did not upgrade tp ANT+. Just following the ‘learning’ instructions in the manual.
Is that in that “sub-menu 5” of the oh-so-crappy-Powertap user interface, or by using the “find” feature?
I just switched from Ergomo, and although I must admit that I like having accurate power numbers, switching from the Ergomo head-unit to the yellow P/T unit is clearly a giant step backwards. Was kind of nice during intervals on the Ergomo to be able to see interval time, cadence, HR, speed, power and average power all at the same time - I think I may have to swith to the 705, although with the size of that thing, you might as well mount a 15.4" laptop to your aerobars!

yes. totally crappy interface but it does work easily - I did it when I was on vacation and wanted to do bricks…now I figure I have extra HR straps…
the 705 is tempting but agree that is is gynormous!!!

If you’ve been using the Ergomo head-unit the 705 is more compact. Works well mounted to the stem and isn’t that obtrusive.
