Everyone okay?
I had a terrible nightmare last night and woke up at 3:30am. I turned on the TV, only to be faced with another nightmare. Thoughts and prayers go out to those affected and their families.
While not a Londoner, we are vacationing in London until tomorrow and the scene here is surprisingly under control. We have not really been out of the hotel since we heard of the bombings this morning but it appears things are well in hand. The police and other authorities have done a fantastic job of restoring order and getting services back on line as quickly as possible.
The effects of the bombings, like in NY, will be felt for quite some time. The underground has sufferred some major damage but the rest ot the city is still functioning well.
Your thoughts and prayers for the people of London and all of the UK would be well received.

One of my sons is backpacking through Europe and had talked about possibly going to London. I woke up to the news of the attack and even though I was pretty sure he hadn’t made it to London yet, I wasn’t at ease until I got an email from him in Germany. Thank goodness for Internet Cafes.

Ya know… if they weren’t ok, then we wouldn’t hear from them. It’s pretty hard to post to ST if your dead or critically injured.
I understand that communications capacity is/was jammed… we may not hear anything for a little while. The phone lines and cells were unavailable earlier.
I certainly hope everyone’s okay. It’s such a shame that that happened. I hope there aren’t any hate crimes as a result (like after 9/11). Of course we don’t yet know who is responsible yet, but I just can’t fathom why they’d do this. I don’t mean to sound childish when I say- can’t we all just get along? Seriously.

Sadly, no. Three trips to my Canadian gf, one to Brazial, two to the States and one to Switerland in the last year have made my credit cards a little brittle right now! However, 2006 is looking like a distinch possiblity.
