60 deg water…after 45min my hand was so numb i couldnt pull out ear plugs but it will warm up this week… face mask leaks a little…do i need to put this so tight i cause trauma to my eyes or ?? goggles, tia
no infact quite the opposite! I’m friends with someone who used to work for the company and he said the biggest mistake people made was adjusting the mask and, or goggles to tight causing leakage. I think when you pull them to tight you’re distending and throwing off the fit. I have the kaiman goggles and have them adjusted WAY lose and have no problems! Try losing them first and see if that works!
ALSO…put on the mask BEFORE your swim cap!!!
urgh. dont wear masks fullstop.
I have officially given up on Aquasphere. I have tried at one time or another two versions of their full mask and recently a pair of their regular goggles. All three have been cronic leakers. They are super nice looking and quality made however I think they leak like a broken water pipe and must only fit a very certain face structure.
Bought a pair of TYR goggles and haven’t had so much as a weep of water get in.

Wearing a mask during the swim is like having a basket on the front of your tri-bike. Buy a pair of sweedish googles, put them together and you’ll never worry about leaking again.

There is a reason why most competitive swimmers wear these, they are cheap and they actually work.
I love my swedes and always race in them, but they do take about 10 practices to really get used to, so I wouldn’t recommend switching now.
Good point, they probably to take some time to adjust so practice in them first.
did you put them on dry? I’ve been told that they seal MUCH better if you don’t dunk them before putting them on.
Mine leaks like crazy too… I’ll give that a try.
Thanks!
Same here. Dumped them.
I had problems with mine but after a while no more problems. I think I was wearing them too low on my face. now I love them. aquaspheres i mean.
love my aquasphere regular goggles (never worn a full mask never will) and I bought these out of necessity as I could not get my TYR or Speedo goggles to stop leaking.
Bought the Aquaspheres a few days before IMAZ - swam in them twice - then raced int hem - absolutely no leaking problems.
I think like anything else - there are certain brands and models that fit individual heads/faces - better than others - rather than say it is a fault with a brand or model within their range.
Wear whatever works best for you - try a few pair out before your race this week and good luck
I did IMLP 4 times in my full masks…never had an issue but for a broken lens from a heel to the face (Seal gave me 5 free sets after the race as a “warranty replacement” for the broken one. I can say that if I had a “normal” or swedish on when I took the heel to the head I would bet my race would have been over - the mask kinda absorbed the blow and my eye socket was not hurt at all.
More recently I have been in their smaller goggle…no issues wiht them either.
I had the seal mask and I thought it leaked a fair amount. I just had to ignore it on a 1/2 IM swim. When I switched to the Kaiman and it is MUCH better. Not sure if my mask was too tight, but whenever I moved around, water would leak in. I’m probably never going back to the seal mask.
