Hi all, been a while since i have lurked around this board. Unfortunately, my back took a turn for the worse, i have a couple herniated discs and a few degenrated disc, but that isnt why i am posting. I have been told not to do any running, so i am forced to look for other activities to feed my need.
I am doing an Aquabike race in Sarasota in a couple weeks and have found several half and full distance aquabike races across the country. I was just wondering if there was any main listing site with all of the possiblities?
No official site focusing on the discipline that I know of.
I do know Vineman out here in sunny California offers a world-class half and full Aquabike. Highly recommended!
From a race directors point of view, it makes sense to add it to your events… just either have people run across the line at T2 or end their time there. No extra course or marshals or timing mats or support needed.
Our local series didn’t quite get it… and made a swim/run duathlon (not even a run-swim-run Aquathlon) instead… ???
We offer the Aquabike at
Lone Star Half Iron, Galveston, TX: April 5
Mooseman Half Iron, Bristol, NH: June 7
Timberman Ironman 70.3, Gilford, NH: August 23
Longhorn Ironman 70.3, Austin, TX: Oct 25
It’s a great option for people. It’s also great for those who get injured close to the race. Often, it’s a running injury, and this lets them still take part. I realize it isn’t the same thrill, but it’s certainly better than sitting on the sidelines…
I have had a number of folks ask about that for Rockman. I just tell them all to do the swim and bike, just dont start the run. They will get a swim and bike split and what more do they need?
