Appliance question

I changed the water filter on my Kenmore ice box and now the ice maker isn’t working. Ideas?

try plugging it back in (sorry man…you assked for it)
.

Hmm. Ice makers are notoriously problematic. Did you check the owner’s manual? Website?

Go to www.repairclinic.com. They have troubleshooting guides and sell parts for most appliances.

Is the filter backwards?

Unfortunately the cold box came with the house and we received no owner’s manual. Add to that my natural lack of brainpower and I am basically screwed.

The idea of a Texas summer without an icemaker is freighting.

Coolness!

Filter? Ice filter? Oh the water filter! Boy you almost confused me.

I had a similar problem but not related to a filter change. For some reason the ice maker stopped. I turned it on/off several times. Tried to clear the frozen stuff out. Nothing worked. I left it off and called the Sears service guy. For $60 and a few days later he came over, turned it on and it worked. Not sure why it didn’t work for me, but maybe it needed to rest…?

It plugs in the wall? Why? Oh your being funny. A plug in the wall like that’s possible. You crazy GI.

Pull the filter out and put it in again. It may not of seated fully. The water shuts itself off when you install the filter and turns on when it seats fully. (simple pressure valve)

Also, try putting the old filter back in and try it just to isolate you having a defective “new” filter or not. New one could be clogged.

Also, make sure the lid that covers the ice mechanism inside the freezer is closed fully. Open and reclose it. Its just a thin plastic lid, but it does trigger the system to shutdown if its not closed fully.

Good luck
