Apple TV

has anyone tried? comments?

Francois,

I just bought one two days ago. First, if you purchase, go with the 160gb version. $100. more, but 4 times the storage space.

It’s cool, but it depends on what you want it for exactly. If you are like me and you take a lot of digital photos, have lot’s of music and videos from itunes, then you’ll dig it. Right now I can hook my laptop to my tv or my video iPod as well and do all these things, but it’s a pain the ass to haul it all downstairs to the TV room, hook it all up, etc.

Basically I know just connect to Apple TV via iTunes and download everything (I have Airport) to the Apple TV box.

You then have an apple remote that you can control your music, photos, podcasts, movies, tv shows all through.

A plus was that it connects (Apple TV) to iTunes via the airport and you can go under MOVIES and select Trailers and watch a bunch of movie trailers for upcoming and current flicks. Kind of a fun addition.

You can also stream movies to it via iTunes if you don’t want to purchase and download them.

It’s very simple to setup. You will have to buy the extra cables (audio and video for DVI or HDTV) as they aren’t included.

Takes a while to download movies and such, depending on how many you have. I have the old Airport, but there is a newer faster version available. I got all my stuff done overnight.

I have a 46 inch HDTV rear projection tv so it’s great to load up photo albums to music and watch them. I have also watched a few episodes of the office.

I’m and Apple geek, so I’ve been into all this stuff lately - as noted by my 5 page long review of the iPhone.

Hope that helps.
