It looks like the mini display port is broken, and therefore I don’t get a freaking image, which is useful in general.
The cable can’t be changed easily since it doesn’t plug out of the back of the screen. Solutions beside sending the

That’s the thing about Apple. Just fully and unconditionally submit and everything will be ok.
How old is the monitor, and is it still under warranty? Do you live in the general vicinity of a mall? I think every mall in the US now has an Apple store with tech support. Sign up for an appointment time online.
