Apitherapy for posterior tibial tendonitis?

one and a half month ago while running downhills I developped a posterior tibial tendonitis and have been dealing with it ever since.
stopped running, missed a 70.3 (Pucon) and now I think I’ll miss IM Los Cabos as well.
now I stopped biking and running. Injury gets better but… damn it’s slow… loosing my mind here.

a serious runner told me this apitherapy thing is miraculous.

anyone with a “miracle” for this sort of thing?

Really?

Well, a bump for you to see if others are sweet enough to chime in with their bee stories …

PT tendonopathy can be a very frustrating injury to rehab from for sure and people often start looking for that miracle/magical cure and even go somewhat into denial (i.e. Steve Jobs cancer choices).

The art of medicine is to keep the patient occupied while the body heals itself.

There are no miracles. This can be a stubborn injury. Any treatment that is claimed to be miraculous should be viewed with skepticism.

What have you done to treat it so far? Who have you seen? What is the cause?

It took me 2 years to fully come back from that injury. For me it wasn’t any magic cure. Just rest, ice, Advil and lots of rolling. I tried to push through it at first and came back too soon which is why it took so long to fully heal. Make sure you figure out the root cause or it will come back. For me it was my shoe choice. I just have to accept that I can’t handle the minimalist shoes without getting hurt. That said I’m back to running 60+ miles a weeks with zero issues so there is light at the end of the tunnel.

For lower leg stuff, I’ve found the Compex to be pretty awesome. For deeper - and larger - muscles, it’s harder (in my experience anyway) to really trigger them with electric stim. But anything from the knee down, the muscles are just so close to the surface, it’s really easy to fire them up with electricity. I use my Compex probably 90% in this area. Especially after races.

Part of the reason that a lot of the recovery is so slow is that you really don’t have big bloodflow in the same way that you do through the core and other big muscles.

This would be an easy to way to do “massage” and work those muscles - specifically - as a way to get back to 100%.

There’s no magic, but my own success using Compex to work that specific area makes me about as comfortable as I’d ever be to say, “try this, it really might help.”

maybe “miracle” was a bit too much. it’s supposed to help, more than rest and ice by itself.
i’ve heard already two positive comments regarding this treatment. have an appointment for tomorrow.

every 2 weeks i go to the doctor to see how’s developping, but as travis_lt just told, it’s a tough one. orthotics is on it’s way. the cause was a hard run session with hills/downhills, had trained for years without a problem before this. i was religiously doing all my strength and core workouts… best shape of my life.

this is not the shrink or psychologyst but i spend all my free time into this, training. already blew a race i prepared for months and now another one is flying away.
