I must say the Air Froce one and the whole show that goes with it is a potent political weapon. The 500+ entourage, cellular jamming choppers, massive motorcade etc. are a brilliant way of reminding the world who the top dog is.
We’ve had some major disruptions here with APEC, but personally I’m pleased that we’ve got the leaders of The US, China, Japan, South Korea, Russia, Indonesia etc in Sydney. It is crucial for Australia to try and maintain its key role in South East Asia, through diplomacy and our natural resources.
To the protesters and the whiners - dry your eyes and HTFU, the disruptions aren’t that bad. The anarchists and communists really piss me off; I’ve been looking for one so that I can tell them to get a job and stop living off welfare paid for by my tax dollars.
Quite funny to see a carfull of heavily armed secret service guys this morning near my building driving on the right hand side of the road by accident!

There’s never a good anachist or communist around when you need one…
A bunch of bums. I tell ya. They generally detract from the legitimate protesting - those who have something valuable to say. Just there to cause trouble.
I have a couple of photos taken from our Sydney office a few minutes ago but I can’t post them because of our corporate firewall - who can post them for me?
You know that this is just the junket, right? The conference itself has been going on all year in various meetings and this is just the jolly for the leaders to put their signature on the bottom line during a photo opportunity.
Actually, I feel sorry for George Bush. Before he became president he had only been to Mexico (I think). Since then he has been to lots of countries, but in a sense never left the US as he is constantly surrounded. He will never have the pleasure of experiencing a new country like we do, he will only get a sanatised, packaged version of it.

The most amazing thing about GW’s trip is that us American’s didn’t even realize he was gone. Maybe things are actually better when he is out of the country.
Do you want to keep him? We’ll toss in a pair of twins.
The insane thing is holding this meeting in Sydney. Australia has a purpose-built city for these kinds of things, called Canberra, conveniently built away from the other capital cities and population centers. Instead, they’ve militarized Sydney.
