I searched ibike and saw lots of posts from last year. Is anybody currently using it and would care to share some thoughts. For the money I’m thinking about getting one. I’m a bop rider by the way, so I’m not looking for exact data. Close would do me fine.
I’ve not only been riding with an iBike Gen III, I’ve got a PT that I use side by side for comparison. I can tell you that my iBike and PT data are close enough that if I had one but not the other, I’d never know the difference. And for the price, it cannot be beat!
It weighs less than the PT. It can be switched from one bike to another without switching wheels. It has features on the CPU that no other PM has like TSS, IF and NP. Ergomo has those features on it’s CPU, but Ergomo is no longer functional as a company.
I’ve been VERY pleased with my iBIke Gen III. PM me with any questions.
You can download the iBike software free from their website and I can send you a ride file showing side by side data of any number of rides I’ve done with iBike and PT.
I have an Ibike Aero.
Used it last year on my tri bike with a topeak extender and every ride when i hit a little bump it went crazy and lost the tilt calibration and power reading became worthless.
I haven’t even put it on my new road or tri bike. It’s sitting in the box. I don’t even want to sell it since it will probably just cause someone else frustration.
I guess i never quite figured it out or something…
PM me and I’ll see if I can help you with your issues.
Chances are it’s probably something very simple that I can assist with.
I have my iAero on the stem of my P3C. Works perfectly.
How do you know it lost tilt cal? That’s pretty much impossible unless you had a bad iBike or unless the unit was mounted too loosely (very possible!).
I also use my iAero on my road bike with great success.

The cynic in me thinks that you are associated with iBike somehow, especially since most anecdotal evidence is the opposite of what you posted before.
I ran an iAero side by side with an SRM and they were so close as to be indistinguishable. I became convinced enough that my studio is an iBike/iAero dealer, I was a major skeptic for a long time.
It has its upsides and downsides but overall it’s a good value in the power meter world. Comes down to what tradeoffs do you want to make, and that is true with EVERY PM system. Each one has +'s and -'s.
And it is very sensitive to tilt which is why you want to do the cal every ride (takes 1 minute, maybe 2) and the new versions have the buttons right over the mount, not out on the end, which reduces chance of messing it up.
I had it mounted as tight as i could get it on a road frame and on my tri bike with the recommended topeak extender. I watched the video’s and RTFM.
Without fail, every time i hit a medium sized bump on a ride or rode on some shitty road the power reading would be off until i stopped, re-calibrated the tilt and 10 minutes later the same would happen. I just left it on for the HR, Spd and CAD…
I was actually going to put in on my kalibur this week but then the SPD sensor wouldn’t detect. It makes the little faint click when i move the magnet by it but i am assuming the battery is just almost dead. I am traveling to KY this week and my allez road bike lives there and maybe i’ll try and throw it on and try again.
I did get a awesome deal on it from ibike but i would have been better served just riding for the 20 or so hours i’ve tinkered with the thing and spending the money on hookers and blow…
