Anyone using Vittoria Corsa clinchers on Hed wheels?

I recently picked up a Hed Jet 90 (about 2004 model year) and bought a Vittoria Open Corsa to put on it.

I later remembered reading that Hed advised against using Vredestein tires and Vittoria Corsa clinchers on their rims because they fit too loose and might come off during “extended braking” (this was in 2002 and is no longer on the Hed website).

I put the tire on and although I needed a tire lever to get it on, I didn’t have to wrestle with it. I wouldn’t say it went on “easy”, but it was by no means difficult. Is the compatibility still an issue with the current model tires?

Is anyone running Vittoria clinchers on their standard width Hed rims (not C2’s) without issue?

around a month ago an athlete I coach had the vittoria cx blow off his hed wheel at 80kph… nice road rash!!!

I’ve run vittorias on my hed3 clincher rims, bastognes and older jets
I now run Michelin prorace 2 clinchers on my Ardennes and Jet4 c2’s

Never had an issue with the vittorias on the standard hed rim but I would recommend picking up the phone as calling the guys over at hed personally rather than prescribe to the replied you’ll likely receive here
.

I’ve been running Vittoria Corsa Clinchers on JET 60s (model year 2007) since day one- no issues after many thousands of miles. I run them on C2 rims, too.

Hi,

Unfortuanately wheel makers are not in a position to control tire companies or the end user.

Sometimes a mis-mounted tire/tube or gross over inflation (braking induced PSI gain) can lead to an unfortunate spill. No Fun at all :frowning:

I have run 23mm Vittoria CX clinchers on both H3’s and Jet C2 90’s on all sorts of terrain and pavement with no issues.

Just talked to Tim at Hed and he said (that as with any tire) you can run Vittoria, or other similar handmade tire, with confidence on all Hed wheels.

Cheers

Does anybody have any tips on getting these tires to fit? I’m having a hell of a time trying to get them to fit on Hed Jet rims.
