Anyone using 2007 Hed stinger wheels - i need your thoughts on how they perform!

I’m thinking of getting a set to be used for my Cervelo R3 and I can’t afford Zipps. I want a deeper section rim for crits but something not too collasal to climb with in the odd lumpy road race. I’m not fussed on the tubular vs clincher although to save weight I’d probably opt for tubular.

How is their braking ?

Any alternatives ?

What do you think ?

Any help would be much appreciated.

I haven’t been able to ride the Stinger but since you have no replies to your thread I figure some info is better than none.

I’ve gotten to inspect them up close and the quality looks good. The ones I’ve seen were very true.

If I were to go out and buy a set of tubbies Stingers would be the top on my list.

I run a 60 / 90 combo with Veloflex Carbons. Visually they are well built and look nice to boot. This year the wheels have seen IMAZ, Buffalo Springs 70.3, and a few sprints. The ride really nice and have a good feel.

How is their braking ? I run kool stop-carbon brake pads and they brake fine, they dont have a braking surface, but the wear is very little. Probably around 300 miles on them at best

Any alternatives ? They fit into my budget (that the Mrs would allow)… so no zipps

What do you think ? Nice wheel, would definately buy again if needed

I have the same setup 60/90 new this year with ceramic bearings…bloody lovely!

I run Stinger 90s front and rear. Love the stiffness, i.e., no flex under load while climbing.
