Anyone used priceline.com

…to book a trip?

how does it work? satisfied? please elaborate. thanks.

I am the queen of priceline for hotels and car rentals. not so much for plane tickets, I don’t have that kind of flexibility. with hotels, you pick a city, an area, a number of stars and bid. If you are denied, you can rebid but only if you change your area or number of stars… or else, you have to wait 3 days… then you can try again. same with cars but it’s 7 days. I have had a ton of luck with this… for example, got 4 season in toronto for 35$ and scottsdale plaza resort for 50$… I had been getting car rentals in phoenix for 11$ day… not these days because of spring training. so how to decide how much to bid? You have to be really smart, know the system and know what things have been going for. there is website called www.biddingfortravel.com It will tell you what people have been getting bids for on priceline, and what has been denied… it gives you a rough idea and it’s an awesome website. let me know if you have questions.

I will 2nd the recommendation of biddingfortravel.com It’s an awesome reference to use for priceline, not only for prices that people are getting things for, but also for bidding strategies. Read the FAQs on the site as they will give you great techniques for making sure you get the lowest price possible. They also help you decipher or narrow down what specific hotel/property you may be bidding on… But also be sure to check out all the options available for package prices on the other sites: Travelocity, Expedia, etc. sometimes have very good deals on packages (air, hotel/car).
