Anyone use the Fuel Belt Head Lamp?

Is it any good?

Just had to mention that you have the most porn star sounding name on ST…

basically a generic Petzl Tikka, I’d go with something else personally as the quality is pretty sketchy. I haven’t used one but we have them in the store and they don’t look all that great. I have a Princeton Tech 1watt LED headlamp which I love, just used it this last Sunday at a 6:15am start tri. You’ll probably be happy with the Fuel Belt lamp but there a LOT of better options for about the same $$$. The Princeton Tech Aurora lights are tiny and super bright, Petzl Tikka lights are pretty much the standard, thier Zipka is super cool and tiny. What are you using it for???

LOL!!!

Ideally, pre-dawn runs on a mix of roads and wide dirt path
.

mmm, I’d go for something a little more durable. A bright LED lamp will still do the trick but you’ll have to go shopping to see what you like.

I had a Princeton Tech Aurora for a while which is super light and bright plus long burn times. The new Princeton Tech EOS I have is a lot brighter but bounches a bit more when you run. Still works well for running though and throws a lot more light.

If I bought a new light now though the new Petzl Tikka XP looks pretty sweet in my book.

Also used the Black Diamond Helix which was a nice light as well.

I have it as the Petzl - great for reading in bed at night!

Have used in several transition areas - pre sunrise - not enough light to use as a headlight unless it is REALLY REALLY dark

I use one I bought at Target for $7.00. I think it is branded Coleman, found in the camping/outdoor section.

It’s pretty light, stays on my forehead just fine, and gives me just the right amount of light. (2led’s) I dont’ like too much light, the contrast screws me up for some reason.

For $7.00 it can’t be beat.

It is just a rebadged Petzl Tikka Plus. Great lamp. I’d buy the Petzl one, though. If anything ever went wrong, that’d be who’d you send it back to anyway…

I’ve used the Petzel model for many miles of early morning backcountry skiing, for many years, without any problems. It was nice because it is super light. When I started using it for early morning running, I noticed that the amount of light, although bright, did not have the depth that I needed. I essentially was running out of the light. I discovered that when I was using it for early morning climbing on skiis, I was not going that fast. When running with it, I needed more depth.

I have since gone to the Princeton model with more LED bulbs and a longer depth of field (correct Term?) I can now use that model, although heavier (because of more batteries) for night running and night nordic skiing without any problems.

Hope that helps.

which Princeton model is that?

To be honest I don’t remember, It’s at home, and I’m not ! But it has 5 bulbs (i think) and takes 3 (i think) AA batteries. I got it at REI, and I think it was the one with the most bulbs.

Sorry, I could look tonight, but I think this will get you close.
