Anyone tried these Fizik aero bar pads?

I picked up some new (to me) VisionTech bars and they need pads. Considering OEM replacements are $30 and the Cee-Gees are $20, I figured I’d throw the Fiziks in as an option at $30 as well. Any feedback? Durability, comfort, etc. Thanks.**

Anybody in the mid-day crowd…?

How thick are the Fizik pads? I switched my thin visiontech pads for some extra-thick Cee-Gee pads and am much more comfortable on rougher road surfaces.

Good question, and I have no idea. Didn’t see any specs on the TriSports.com site and not on Fizik’s own site either. All I know is they’re made of “Technogel” …OHHHHH!!

I’ve ridden on them for the past couple months and they have been great. Thinner than the profile pads, but seem to absorb quite a bit of vibration from the road. One note, because they are gel, they don’t absorb sweat like the profile pads, so can be slick at times.

Do the dimples on the pads make you faster?

nice…

Ah, so they are completely gel. So cleaning them is pretty quick and easy then? Thanks for the input.

Gel with a bit of protective coating–so cleaning is a breeze. Well worth the extra couple bucks.

I have them on my USE bars. They are not bad, but are not nearly as comfortable as my Syntace pads on my old bars. I compress the gel all the way to the bottom of the pad in certain positions— It shifts to either side of my forearm. I have found a comfortable position, but the pads are a constraint I have to consider versus my Syntace pads which were so dense I could ride in any position. FWIW, they are a big step up from some old Profile pads I had in the house, so they are not bad, just not as good as the Syntace pads I’ve used.

Hey there
Sorry - our staff is completely slammed in Italy and keeping up w the website has proven to be a problem! Hoping we can improve on this shortly. Here’s some quick info:

The pads have approx 5 mm of foam (and velcro) underneath 4 mm of fi’zi:k’s exclusive TechnoGel. The gel sits on top, uncovered. The gel:pads come in three different shapes that can be cut to fit several styles or shapes of arm rest cups. It’s possible that the pads can be cut to fit more than those that I have listed below - as long as the cup shapes are similar, but as you all know, there are quite a few different shapes on the market and for our initial foray, we limited it to what we deduced were the most popular shapes.

**THREE DISTINCTLY SHAPED MODELS that CUT-TO-FIT with **
· Syntace Biowing, Profile Venturi
· Vision Deluxe, Vision Micro
· Profle F19 & Profile F22

Features: shock absorbing, washable, reusable, attache directly to your original armrest Velcro, Technogel® won’t break down, migrate, leak or harden.

There’s a quick blurb also in the current issue of Triathlete Mag.
Cheers & hope this is helpful info.

great looking product… any chance it would fit as a replaement for the HED aero bars? http://www.hedcycling.com/aerobars/aerobar.php

thx

Hi Marco
It appears to my naked eye as though the fi’zi:k gel:pad shape that was designed to fit the Profile F-19 and F-22 would also work with the cups that are pictured on the HED link you included. As mentioned, it’s more than likely that our three shapes work with a lot more arm rest cups then those we listed on our packaging or in our marketing message. Admittedly, I am not ultimately familiar w all of the cup shapes avail - thus, your best bet would be to visit your favorite LBS (who hopefully carries them!), take them out of the box and have a look. You should be able to determine for certain then.
Thanks for asking,

Bump…

Did you install these of f19 rests by any chance?

I have a set sitting in front of me (un cut) and they look a tad small. I hate to cut them (on the pre-set F19 setting) and have a lil metal rubbing my arm. The way my bars are positiong, I actually need about 5 degrees of relief to the S-bend already…

Anyone?

I have them on an undermounted t2 setup (17cm drop). I have destroyed several spec pads before switching to the Fizik. not alot of time on them yet but I like them esp. on rough roads. they do seem a tad small but that isn’t a problem. they are a little slick after sweating on them but so are the spec pads

I’ve got them on my Vision bars. I like them but would rather have the OEM pads.

The color is good and I don’t slide around in them at all.

To update my own post if anyone searches in the future…

I finally got a set of these from Trisports. Initial ride this morning…they’re OK. I wouldn’t say they’re better or worse than the OEM Vision pads. I got them plenty sweaty but didn’t feel like they got slick. Pretty easy to clean though since they don’t absorb much liquid (bottom foam layer does absorb some though). A few pictures…

Quick question off topic: How do you have your Cateye computer attached to your stem?

Thanks,

~Tucker

I cut the upper outer corners off on the crease so they fit better.

jaretj

I had that model mounted on the stem as well. The back of the computer has slots that allow vertical or horizontal mounting orientation. A few zip-ties through the horizontal slots, wrap 'em around the stem & off you go.

The problem is, the stem tilts toward you, making the display difficult to read while on the aerobars. I moved mine from the stem to the right aerobar (with adapter) where it reads much easier & still allows space for an aerobottle.
