i like the sram carbon tt shifter but was told that you have to use sram derailleurs with it.
The front should work but you are out of luck with the rear. It will only work with Sram. I wanted to do the same thing.
The amount of cable pull per click differs from Shimano to SRAM, but the cassette spacing is the same. That means you can interchange cassettes but the indexed shifter and rear derailleur must be the same brand.
Does SRAM have a friction setting for the rear? If so wouldn’t it work?

I used my Shimano barcons with a SRAM Force derailleur until the SRAM shifters came out. I still have the shiftmate from Jay if anyone wants to try it out. It works great.
No friction setting on rear. Front is of course friction only.
