Anyone tried LeWedge? Any PT's out there?

Last year I was injured with severe pain around my left fibula head particularly during running–would come on suddenly 20 to 30 minutes in the run. I suspected it came on with increased cycling since I had been running all winter pain free but not sure if that is just coincidental or not.

Turns out I had a leg length descrepency (left slightly shorter so I was supinating on the left and pronating on the right) and after getting orthotics have pretty much been pain free.

I have noticed however that biking does cause a very minor flair up and I noticed that I tend to turn my left foot out slightly on the bike. I’ve tried putting my orthotics in my bike shoes but since I’m not really standing while on the bike my foot just seems to naturally want to invert (supinate).

I found the following links and was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what they found helpful.

Thanks

I just picked some up this weekend for to try this… (Don’t have alignment problems)

LeWedges can also be used with the thick edge to the outside to focus power toward the ball of the foot (Figure 2).

I bought lewedges a few months ago to see if they could help me deal with some of the biomechanical issues I have on the bike. My left leg is also shorter than my right leg, and my right foot tends to turn outward significantly when I walk or stand. I think the lewedge is a useful tool to help correct some problems, but the trouble for me has been getting them in the right place. Since I got them several months ago I have still been messing around trying to find the right setup. I would recommend them, but with the warning that you will probably have to be patient and it could take a while to find your correct setup. Granted, I’ve tried to do it all myself, and maybe an “expert” could have helped me figure it out faster. But for what it’s worth, I do feel more comfortable on the bike now than I did before. Correcting the leg length discrepancy is pretty simple, but as for other issues such as varus and valgus, it can get tricky.

I use them and it seems to have helped. Nothing earthshaking, but I don’t have to consciously hold my left foot and knee in alignment anymore. When sitting with both feet flat on the floor, one knee is noticeably higher than the other. I had others confirm this by viewing from the front. I bought LeWedges mainly to correct this discrepancy and found that the pressure point on the bottom of my feet shifted from the outside of the foot previously to the ball. I think they’ve helped me be a bit more efficient.

I’ll order a pair and try’em out. I’ll head down to the LBS and see if they have some or have any other recommendations.

Thanks

They seemed to very much help the hotspots I was getting on the outside ball of my feet. The pain was so bad, particularly on my right foot, that I’d ened up doing one-legged drills for most of the last 45 minutes of my long ride.
