Kurt is correct about not using rollerblades with poles. The other thing is that because of the short length of the wheel base and given that fact that they have a “rocker” to them, you can turn the skate in mid glide, which you CANNOT do with real skis on snow. You end up developing lots of bad habits using rollerblades to simulate skiing on snow. I tried this for 1 autumn training cycle and it took me 2 months to unlearn all the bad habits I picked up. Much better to just run, bike and lift weights (and swim if you really like spending time in a chlorinated box).
