Interesting stuff on cyclingnews, http://www.cyclingnews.com/riders/2007/interviews/?id=chris_horner_aug07
Claiming that the crackdown is working, he says,
“You can see the differences,” he said. “As a rider it is easily perceptible, or as a well-educated fan sitting at home. You get to a climb and everyone has maybe one or two team-mates with him – that is doable. You can’t have a leader’s team getting to the final climb with five guys on the front, like every year from three years back all the way back. It is impossible to ride the front with your whole team and get to the final climb with most of your team still on the front – and be ready to come back and do it day in and day out.”

some sparkling words for Lance as well. Certainly Horner never received any benefit from Lance, just like Tiger never helped golf and MJ never helped basketball.
wow; I always thought the tours were won on the mountains and the time trials. Since you get no help on the ITT, you build a team consisting of mainly good mountain climbers who’ll push the pace making sure no one can go off the front.
either Horner is talking out his ass, or I really haven’t been paying attention
Yeah, cause Lance never doped…please…(snicker).
yea… and neither did Horner…
Yes but you still have to pull on the flats and pulling hurts lots it is not realistic for a team to pull all day and still have 8 riders in the front group of 30 at the bottom of the last climb. Some of which are noted non climbers.
Armstrong raised the awarness amongst the american public but was always in the sport for himself first and did little to help the lesser riders.
I read that as Horner calling Lance and USPS dopers while trying to avoid being sued for slander.
