Thinking about trying some Keywin CRm pedals. Anyone know if the cleat will fit the LG Tri Air 2 cycling shoes without any adapter?
If your shoes are drilled for the Look standard 3 hole cleat, they will fit.
I’m not familiar with that specific shoe, but I’d be hard pressed to think of a shoe company that does not support the Look 3-hole standard.
Thanks! I read on another forum that a guy purchased the Keywin and the cleat was not compatible with any of his shoes. Said he needed and adapter but could find a place to buy the adapter. But maybe it was the old type of Keywin pedals.
The old type of Keywins were superseded by the CRM in 1997 and you would struggle to find any outside NZ. Either the other poster had uncommon shoes or is mechanically inept.
I have a pair of old-skool (pre-CRM) Keywins and they have the same 3 hole cleat. This guy must have had some older/mtb shoes that only had the 2 bolt SPD drilling, or perhaps an old set of road shoes that had the drilling for a slotted cleat (for traditional cages & straps).
The cleat did not change (as far as I can tell) with the CRM pedals - the changes are in the pedal body.
SLs or the original one?
I think they’re the SLs, but I don’t actually know for certain. They look essentially the same as the CRMs but don’t have any float. Mine have yellow endcaps and came with matching yellow cleats. I still use them and interchange modern CRM cleats with those pedals (and vice versa) without issue.
I’m a bit foggy on the early years as I’d only just started cycling but I think the originals had a square cleat that was different to CRM (one of my classmates had some). Rare for a foreigner (except for a few Aussies) to have had Keywins for so long, obviously you are particularly enlightened
You’re right - these are the original “Speed Pedals”, circa 1983:

I came by my SLs as NOS on ebay, but have only been on Keywins since 2003 or so. I transitioned to clipless pedals in the early 90’s, but I was riding a pair of Shimano-made Look knock-offs that my LBS sold to me for cheap because someone had scratched them.
