Anyone in the Seattle area have a P5 56 (or 58)

I’d like to figure out some sizing questions without having to go into a shop. I’m taken a quick spin on a 56 (thanks TriPigeon, wish you were still in town) and stood over a 58 but didn’t get a chance to ride it. Being between 6’2" and 6’3" I’m right on the cusp of the two sizes and I’d like to get confirmation before I finalize any choices on my next bike.

You’ll fit on both, it’s a matter of your body proportions/fit/position, height alone isn’t going to give you a definite answer on whether you should lean one way or the other. I’m about the same height as you and was on a 56, but would have been good on a 58 as well.

Edit: It’s a big purchase, I’d go to a shop and actually get fitted even though you’ve said that’s not something you want to do.

I’m actually considering the P5 and the IA… Either would be a significant upgrade from my Kestrel Talon. Neither of the shops I could/would potentially work with have the 56 in stock so hence the reason why I’m trying to find one… I stood over a P5-3 in 58 briefly but felt a bit more stretched out that I’d like. Having not ridden it I’m not sure if it was just me or if it was too big…

What is your current pad stack and reach? Also what is your current stack and reach of your brake levers. With those numbers you could compare how a 56 and 58 would compare in terms of touch points. That is assuming you want to keep your current position.

I am 6’2" and I am on a 56. And with no spacers and the standard Aduro bar that makes me quite low. But with the Hi V it would be quite reasonable. I doubt though that I would be happy on a 58.

I’m on a 58 and 6’2". I like it just fine. A 56 would not have enough reach for me. I’m currently using 20mm of spacers under the low Aduro bar and will probably go 10mm lower for this season.

Really, height has nothing to do with it. it’s all about stack and reach coordinates. I knew mine before going into the P5 sizing process, and based my decision on how many (or how few) spacers I’d need under the stem to get it right and then future adjustability.

Sorry to have fled the country on you, mate! I know you don’t want to do the shop thing, but doesn’t Speedy Reedy have a 58 in stock right now (might be a 2012)? I’d say go in, be upfront with em, buy some consumables to support the shop, and test er out!

Yup. It sounds like you have a longer torso? Either way, it’s not terribly difficult to figure it out with existing stack and reach numbers, Cervelo has that nice chart available… but going from having nothing, just makes sense to get fitted for it.

I guess I do have a bit of a long torso. Also, I moved up from a P4 with very dialed in fit coordinates, so choosing from the Cervelo P5 chart was easy. First time I actually sat on the bike I confirmed my research in about 5 minutes. Later we removed a 5mm spacer and ended up with the 20mm I have now.

A very easy process.

Hi
You can measure you bike and plug in the numbers here. Then you can find out what bike and size you fit. You will also find out if you need to tweak the standard components to match your fit.

I have started to play with the program and found it helpful and interesting.
This will of course never replace on the bike testing, but you will get a better starting point

I’m not sure if they still have it. I was going to swing by today.
