Anyone have weight loss tips... short and sweet?

I am not looking for full-fledged diets I just want some little tips to help me lose these last 10 pounds. Things like ways to curb late night hunger, good mid day snacks, eat this not that, etc. Just little tips that may have worked for you. This may be broad but thought I would investigate.

hot soup. its hot so you have to eat it slowly, and it fills you up more than other foods on a volume/calorie ratio.

exercise more, eat less
.

Switch any simple carbs to whole grains. Late night: eat some almonds or go to bed. Eat more fruit/vegetables (potato doesn’t qualify as a vegetable) think broccoli, asparagus, kale, cabbage, etc. Strained (“Greek-style”) yogurt is a good snack.

Focus on boosting the amount of fiber in your diet and you may lose those last 10 as your calorie intake starts to drop.

Eat less calories than you burn.

The big ones - eat more often, eat less. This way, you don’t develop a “hunger deficit”, which means people tend to gorge themselves at meals. Eat 5-6 times a day (seriously), but eat the same amount of calories you would otherwise. Since you’ve said “last 10 pounds,” I’ve going to assume you’re already eating pretty well. Eat more fruit and veggies (agreed - potatoes don’t count). If you’re hungry before bed, eat a banana.

Oranges are freaking magical. Besides tasting like awesome, they take forever to eat, which means that it will partially hit your stomach, so you’ll feel more full. They’re also cheap and good for you. Replace peanut butter with almond butter or other lower-fat options. Remember that granola is not only for hippies anymore.

Sure, I just lost 10lbs in 4 days, honest! Its called stomach flu or food poisoning. Not sure which but it sucks. I’ve got a marathon in two weeks and I haven’t ran in the last 5 days.

I’m wondering if the loss of the 10lbs will offset the loss of fitness, what do you think?

Track what you eat on “My Daily Plate” on www.livestrong.com and see where the calories go.

Don’t quit your day job

In addition to all the typical stuff…

Eat dinner early.

Then immediately brush, floss and waterpic your teeth.

It’s so much work, you won’t want to do it again that evening.

Lose 4 ounces a day for 40 days…10 pounds.

If you have an iPhone there’s a little App called Lose it! It makes you count calories and makes you more aware on what you eat, how many calories you have left at the end of the day etc. Helped me lose 15 lbs within a few weeks to get down to race weight. Until you realize how much you eat or don’t eat, it is hard to lose those last stubborn lbs. That’s how it was for me. Check it out!!!

10 calories per pound of your current bodyweight for maintenance, then just workout 6x a week and burn calories. It’ll melt off.

Ahhh, the bacon diet. One of my favorites, right up there with the Krispy Kreme diet.

Eat lean, green, and marine.

I find if i keep my protein intake high I eat less. One of my favorite snacks is Fage, greek yogurt. If you get the 2% is it 140 cals and 18g of protein. A little honey and fresh berries for an evening snack, awesome and very filling.

Be sure you’ve cut out the sugar. That makes a huge difference.

Eat one less snack a day.

Start high, finish low. I try to do this but am only good at it when I’m at a panic weight and really crack down. Front load your calories. Eat your biggest meal at breakfast then go smaller in calories for lunch then dinner. This was you burn off the calories as you go through the day.

x2 eating more often.

If you take a lunch to work, simply break it down and eat it in intervals throughout the day. If you take a sandwich for lunch, eat 1/2 at 10 am and the other 1/2 at noon. Eat a smaller dinner and plan on a small snack later in the evening.

Just be careful not to start adding “extra” calories. Just spread out your current caloric intake throughout the day.
