Anyone have this issue with Adamo attack?

Switched to the attack after IM Canada and been using it since including miami 70.3. It’s comfortable. Sometimes. I’ve out in probably 500 miles including trainer time.

My sit bones have gotten used to it but I keep getting cysts right where the saddle meets the bones. Sometimes one side, sometimes both like after yesterday’s 60 miler. They go away pretty quickly but I’ve been riding 4-5x/ week so it’s pretty constant

Anyone else have similar effects and/or is this a seat height/angle issue? I’ve moved it around some but on the verge of ditching the saddle heading into 2014

I don’t have an attack, but I do have a podium and get a similar issue, I’ve thinking of going to the new cobb saddle, since its narrower in the front.

I have an ISM Road II and seem to always end up with some chafing / irritation / cysts in an uncomfortable place. Almost always in the same spot for me.

I’ve tried a Cobb Vflow Plus and ended up switching back. I also tried the Slowtwitch Saddle Tour here and didn’t find anything that was clearly better.

I’ve been trying different creams, different shorts, in general it seems to be a reoccurring issue for me. Right now I’m doing only 3.5-5 hrs on the trainer a week (total, 3-4 workouts), but have been up to 7-8… Same issue throughout.

Thinking about trying my wife’s ISM Prologue for a bit to see if the longer and narrower front end may help.

Oh yeah, I’ve ridden my Road both stock and with zip ties pulling it together closer.

For me it may just get bad after I neglect myself and ride with a specific pair of shorts or leave out the cream. Of course then it takes time to get better.

I thought the attack might work as it’s narrower like a road saddle. But it’s not the prongs where my issue is, it’s more the pressure of sitting right on the sit bones?

I also use dz nuts and sometimes Eurostyle, and different shorts but always get it again

Looking for something to take the perineal pressure off so don’t really want to go back to the fizik etc

I had a similar problem, think it was a little wide for me (despite the zip tie thing). Bought a Cobb 55 - all problems solved!

The 55 prob doesn’t fit everyone, cos the sides are parallel rather than triangular, but if it fits it’s a revelation.

Is there a Ism Road II?

Sure it’s not racing II?

I had the same issue. Not too wide in front like some are suggesting. My solution, and by solution I mean they are completely gone and have never returned, involved a combination of lowering my saddle a few cm, rotating my hips so the pressure was shifted a bit more forward, and what I consider the most reasonable answer for why the issue went away, I’ve started using one gear lower and decreased my cadence such that speed is the same, but more pressure is in my legs rather than my saddle. I have no idea if any of those solutions are legit, practical for you, etc…, but they worked for me so I thought I’d share. Oh … And I use more lube than a two dollar whore on nickle night. Base layer of A&D with Chamois butt’r on top.

I had the adamo road and experienced the same problems. Switched to a Dash and never looked back. Takes a little getting used to but worth every penny.

I use to ride a cobb and i was always getting saddle sores. It just didn’t fit me right.

I switched to the Attack and i don’t get any skin sores or cysts anymore.

I do get very tender spots, especially on the trainer, my contact points tend to get very sensitive after 1.5hrs or more.

I’ve had the same problem you describe when using ISM saddles. I started with the Adamo Road. It was a great saddle and relieved all perennial pressure and numbness. Over about 18 months I developed the sit or pubic bone sensitivity. Mine was more a bursitis as it covered a longer area on one side only. I switched out the Road for a Breakaway thinking the rounder edges would help. This did seem to help, but my mileage kept increasing and so did the problem. In short order I tried the ISM Time Trial and Prologue (which are opposite ends of the hardness scale) and the Dash. None of them worked as they all irritated the same spot. The seat width didn’t seem to matter because they are all about the same width across the prongs.

I tried a different approach and went with a Cobb SHC 170. This saddle worked pretty well with only slight irritation on the area over the bone. And I think this was because the area was still inflamed from the prong saddles. The problem with the SHC was perennial numbness. Switching to the Bonty Hilo mostly fixed both issues. I bought the adjustable one only to end up on the narrowest setting which is where the non-adjustable version is set. I still get numbness on long rides, but it is the best compromise I’ve come up with.

My saddle height has also dropped a bit over time to help reduce the pressure. I’ve also dropped my cadence a bit because it doesn’t aggravate my sit bone area as much. Both of these fixes are as described by DV1 above. I’d love to be able to ride one of the Adamos and rotate my pelvis more as DV1 did. This would allow for a more aggressive position. So far I haven’t been able to make it work:(

don’t shave there!
I have also found that I have less issues when I wear tri shorts

Are the prongs even? I had similar problem; if the saddle binder bolts aren’t tightened evenly one of the saddle prongs will sit lower than the other. I loosened the bolts that attach the saddle rails to the seat post, rocked the saddle back and forth to even out the prongs and tightened the bolts evenly.

I don’t have an answer for the question, but I would just like to add something that most of you probably know. These cysts are probably damaged fat tissue right under the skin. Fat tissue doesn’t dissolve as easily as muscle tissue since it cannot be carried away by the blood as easily. The seat is creating some kind of trauma to the fatty tissue and leaving a lump of dead tissue behind.
