Anyone have an opinion on Steve Larsens 'Triathlete' mag article this month?

If you read this you’ll find it is a unique perception of bike/tri training.

Any thoughts ?

It seemed to me that the article was supposed to be geared towards age groupers who want to get faster on the bike…then he layed out his training schedule. I’d like to know what age groupers with a full time job and family can fit in the amount of training he has on his schedule. I’m going to go out on a limb and say “not many”…but I’m sure the people on this forum will prove me wrong.

I ride as much as possible on my TT bike and think that is a big part of my improving cycling performance. Gordo Byrn

I concur.

I thought it was a good article, especially if you want to improve your cycling. His point about riding with roadies is a good one. Im finding out in my own training is if I want to get faster on the bike, I ride with roadies. If I want to get faster in the water, I join a masters class. For running I do 5k/10k races and intervals.

Not terribly strange, considering the source.

I think that if you track, the best cyclists in the sport of triathlon, and the best overall triathletes, you will see that at some point in their training year or their career, they spend/spent a considerable amount of time riding a road bike with road cyclists.
