Anyone had experience with salomon trail running shoes?

I have several pairs of trail shoes from various manufacturers including Nike, Salomon, Brooks, and Inov-8. Based on what you said you are looking for (neutral, high performance, light weight), I would highly recommend looking into Inov-8s. The Inov-8s are amazing on the trail. They have little to no support or cushioning (think the whole barefoot run thing) but provide great traction and foot protection. Since they don’t have much cushioning, you can really get a feel for the terrain and they dry super fast. I have run several trail marathons and one 50k in them with no issues (except my calves get a bit sorer than when I run in my usual light stability shoe). They make several different kinds (the numbers are the weight of the shoe) so if you can’t decide what to buy from their online site, give them a call. Their customer service staff is great and will make a recommendation based on the types of terrain you are running. Alot of my ultra friends have switched completely to Inov-8 for trail and road running.

In terms of the Salomons, I own the XT wings and XA Comp (i think but it could be the Speed comp), I would think you would find the Salomon’s a bit bulky cause I find them to be like tanks compared to my normal road shoes and in the Inov-8s. I find myself barely even wanting to wear them for trail running these days. I have a brand new pair that I won in a Adventure Race raffle that I have worn like 3 times.

Hope this helps!
