Anyone fructose intolerant?

I’m beginning to believe that I may be. Christ. If I eat apples and pears … or say a nectarine or plum that hasn’t ripened … a fruit that is crisp … watch out. I get really gassy. I eat a lot of raisins, but I don’t notice it with that. Or with strawberries. Just wondering if anyone has any similar experience and what if anything you do about it…

It may not be the fructose. just trouble digesting less ripe fruit. There are plenty of fructose-sweetened drinks (apple juice) that you could use to test this.

For me I’m generally OK with fructose, but if I drink it after a hard ride I’ll get stomach cramps. Don’t have a problem with other beverages, including those w/hi-fructose corn syrup.

Hmm…I don’t think I get a problem with juices. And, I can eat ripe pears and ripe apples, and then I get things going down below. It just seems to happen with other less ripe fruits with skins. I can eat semi-green bananas and not have a problem. I don’t know…

I’m guessing that you aren’t Fructose intolerant. Do you have any other problems with sodas, boxed cereals, or honey?

I have the same problem. Fruits used to be the staple of my diet. Apples and especially pears give me so much gas. I eat tons of veggies: carrots, broccoli, spinach and I have no problems. Eventually it seemed like most fruits would make me gassy - I also chalked it up to fructose and I’ve cut way back on most fruits. Now I just eat rice and potatos (and yams because I can’t find real sweet potatos anywhere).
