I am considering buying myself a new road bike for my birthday. I have been looking at the Kestrel RT800. But started thinking I wonder what would be involved to use the extra P2C frame I have and build it up as a road bike.
Anyone ever do this? I have not looked at the geometry close enough yet. But curious to hear others experience.
I turned my P3 into a road bike throughout last winter. See my profile for a pic. It worked fine - although I used a lot of steerer tube to get the bars up some. I put the seat rearward and rode like a roadie.
You will be low in the front, and your hands will feel some pressure. Handling is about what you’d expect for a TT bike - good, but definitely not good enough to race it in a crit with lots of turns. It was a good winter solution for me to ride with the roadies, and I’d do it again.
Chrissie did…her bike is on the main page somewhere.
CW did it for alp duez tri.
Yes, I was in a crash (bent my aluminum frame), and got a P2C frame cheap, which I built up as a road bike. It’s very fun, I still have the seat forward (just feels more comfortable).
I have always wondered the same question. I found this pic online.
