Anyone ever race in Desoto 400 mile bike short?

Man, I love these shorts to ride in. I own Desoto shorts for racing but the 400 mile bike short has me spoiled and I don’t want to go to a racing short with a thin pad. Anyone ever tried running in these for a 1/2 IM or longer?

Running in them… err i dunno about that emilio i’m sure will respond… Just get the forza or vuelo tri shorts and be done with it. The Forza shorts have a big enough pad that you shouldn’t have a problem.

I mean i’m sure you could… but there is a reason they are bike shorts and not tri shorts.

There are some people who have. I know DeSoto has made some trisuits for IM athletes with a 400 mile pad (just as he has made bibs with the tri pad). But I think you’d probably want to use it for a race where you were changing clothes after the bike. The best cycling pad and the best running pad are never going to be the same thing.

I raced in mine at Napa in '06. I pulled them on over my Desoto tri shorts in T1 and pulled them off in T2. .

I’ve run in mine for brick workouts, but only for under 6 miles. I’ve never raced in them, and even though they are my favorite biking shorts, I wouldn’t want to. Stick with the tri shorts.

When I did IMAZ in April, I wore them under the wetsuit during the swim and then kept them on for the bike leg. Once I got to T2, I changed into my thin pad power shorts for the run. I will go this route again next year as there really wasn’t any problems wearing them during the swim and then it only took a minute to change after the bike.

Not sure I would wear them during a half though.

I’ve done short bricks in some older PI bibs, but my old Desoto Power Tri-bibs work much better.

Jason,

I've used them for both the bike and run leg of my last HIM with no problems. I did several long runs with them before the race just to be sure. But the few who know me on here would tell you the best thing to do would be the opposite of whatever I do :-).
