I love my pair. The field of vision is a little bit less than the regular Seal Mask but they are much more comfortable.
my seal goggles were always fine for a while and then would get to a point where they wouldn’t seal right and leak. i picked up the xp’s in placid and used them in the race - i really liked them and won’t be going back to the seals. plus the xp’s look cooler.
I bought a pair at the expo at Timberman; I raced in them two weeks later in a local sprint in VERY rough water. Steep, breaking 2 to 3 footers, laden with seaweed. As far as the XP’s were concerned, it was a transparent experience as I didn’t think about them at all. I couldn’t ask for more from any mask or goggle.
I’ve used mine for 3 months now. Great goggles. I like them better than the larger Seal Mask. And either type are more comfortable than standard goggles for me. But comfort isn’t the main thing I like. I like the field of view for bouy sighting purposes. These are a definite improvement over standard goggles in that department.
Well I must reply negatively on the XPs. I have had 3 pairs of standard Seal Masks and they were all great. I thought the XPs would be a logical choice. In using them I have found that they work fine for the first 10-15 minutes then they lose their seal either from my sweating or from the breathing motion which causes them to slide. I will stick with the standard Seal mask.
Love them! I’ve tried everything else and now I’ll never go back.
I give it 5 stars *****. They are great. My vision is rotten and I can;t swim a straight line to save my soul, so it is perfect for me. They are fun to take on vacation too just for snokeling and diving around.
-Great product. And yeah, I do sell them- lots of them!
Another dessenter…
Loyal Seal user…bought the XPs in Placid as well. Look cool, enjoy the lower profile.
I’ll use em for short races, but the sloooow leak would drive me nuts in IM.
Another dissenting opinion. I’ve been using the same seal mask for 2 years and love it. Recently got an XP mask and found it lacking. It has a slow leak and I seem to get a stream of bubbles off of it which obscures my vision. I have gone back to my trusty old regular seal mask.
Goggles are like bike seats. What works great for one person is awful for the next.
I’ve had three pairs of the exact same model of Seal XP goggles -
Pair #1 - leaked - came in a clear plastic case that separates into two pieces
Pair #2 - work great, love them, etc. - came in a clear plastic case that is hinged on one side - so I ordered a backup pair
Pair #3 - leak slowly - came in same type of case as #1
I’ve kept the third pair only out of frustration, but there must be something to this. I love the goggles a lot, but the leak issue is annoying. I wondered about the different packaging and if it might indicate different production runs. The hinged case is much more practical and easier to use. Now that I’ve heard this I think I’ll be sending the third pair in for exchange.
What type of cases did your leaking googles come in?
