Any other LRers who just don’t do Christmas? I don’t decorate, play Christmas music, have a special meal, go to parties, or any of that stuff. I send gifts to my family, but that’s about it.
That how I’d much prefer it… Though I am now local to some family, so there is some unavoidable time spent with them, but I keep that to a bare minimum - usually just a xmas eve dinner & gift exchange.
Buy yeah, no decorations around the house, no special music etc. I’m not a Grinch nor at all anti-Christmas, it just doesn’t bump the needle much as anything I really care about.

Special meal? Yes, but that is more generically “holiday” than Christmas IMO. Thanksgiving is turkey, Memorial, Independence and Labor is “cookout/barbecue” and Christmas is “winter feast”, so I don’t really count a special meal as doing “Christmas”, just I like ot cook and eat, so if you have the day off, why not have some fun in the kitchen?
The gifts I could do without, a lot of effort to get stuff for the family and send it to them.

I get into it because Im making up for lost time. I didnt celebrate christmas until I was 13 due to being raised in the Jehovah’s witness cult.
after I announced I was atheist then I celebrated away with the other apostates.
Now I live vicariously through my kids. They get everything I didnt. I hung up 1000 feet of lights outside and a bunch inside as well. Some santa, snowmen, elves etc But all small things inside.
Just another day on the calendar. I’m at the Knick game. Should’ve stayed home. They suck

I like Christmas and decorating the shit out of my house along with eating all the food, drinking all the booze, hanging out with everyone, etc so can’t live my life with out celebrating Christmas. I celebrate the shit out of Halloween, Thanksgiving, new years, etc.
I’ve always thought that Jehovah’s witness people were cold blooded for not celebrating the big holidays. Never made any sense to me. What the fuck is the point of living if you don’t celebrate it. I think if more people celebrated life instead of clinging to their guns as they fear other people, the world would be a better place.

I used to love Christmas. LOVE it! But, the last couple years have been too much drama and too much stress. With both kids now living halfway across the country, my parents in Green Bay, and, usually a home Packer game, logistics are a bitch. My son is with a horrible, horrible woman, which makes it worse. But, the Boy is home and his dumb bitch girlfriend must have decided her gift to us was to stay away, so, it is great seeing him. Plus, I got the best gift of my life. My wife got me an electric guitar! It is a Les Paul model (of course, look where I live, but not one of the Les Paul guitars), but, I know nothing else (yet, I will learn). I have always wanted to play, but, never felt I had the time. At 42, I am going to learn. She got me Rocksmith to learn, which I am installing right now. My family is healthy, happy, and home! Best. Christmas. Ever!
Oh, and the tamales are cooking as I type!

While the wife had a late morning nap I snuck in a 30 mile ride. Leftover risotto for lunch, homemade pizza tonight for dinner. Just got done fertilizing the yard and doing some cleaning/purging in the garage. So far a good way to spend the day.
We do the full-on feasting and conspicuous consumption but nothing else.

Being one who hates very little, I absolute hate Christmas time and everything surrounding the holiday. If people were as giving as their are today, everyday, my attitude would be different but don’t see it happening.
