Anyone else done this?

So, I was riding my trainer Wednesday night, finishing my cool-down to the end of Alias. Was sitting up with my hands on the hoods because I planned to hop off when the show finished. Well, the ending surprised me so much, that I grabbed the brakes right when their car got slammed (if you didn’t see it, the ending is when Jennifer Garner and her boyfriend are in a car talking and it ends right as they get hit by another car - really sudden.) Anyway, not sure if the surprise made me do it (I am a really jumpy person) or if I did it because it was a car crash and I was on my bike and I somehow thought it was me in the accident…

Just wondering if I’m the only idiot who has gotten a little too focused on tv while riding the trainer. No need to respond if I am, I think I already know that.

Very Funny,

Nice quote, what exactly are you reffering to???

Try watching an action movie on rollers.

Good reflexes. You are well trained, grasshopper.

That would be why I don’t own rollers, although they’d probably do wonders for my bike handling skills (although my reflexes are obviously just fine).

Hell, thats easy! Recovering from a sneeze, cough or sudden burst of laughter while riding on Kreitler Dyno-Myte hotdog rollers (they’re only 10" wide), thats hard! :^D

You mean my signature? Get Fuzzy, the funniest comic strip there is (I swear one of my cats IS Bucky Katt).

that scene made me jump off the couch! it got me so much that my heart rate soared and it put a shock into me. generally i don’t ever watch that show–but now, i’ll def have to see the follow up.

Thank you. Now I feel MUCH better. I don’t watch it regularly either, but that was still a great ending. The other show that gets my heart rate up (but no grabbing the brakes, yet - haven’t watched the season finale from Monday yet, so who knows) is 24.

Gopha, I am thinking you either have (A) new digital cam; (B) too much time on your hands at the moment; (C) not enough respect for your own mortality (really big grin) or is that your technique for keeping a cool head under fire?

I’ve only ridden off the rollers once . . . while watching a video of Paris-Roubaix 1996. The peloton curved gently to the left and so did I. Now I save the race DVDs for the stationary trainer.

Actually, that’s just more fun from the internet.
I can’t claim the genious behind that one (though I have done some pretty cool things with fire in the past.)

dammit, I was going to watch Lost and Alias tonight on my trainer! Great, so there goes the ending:( Only joking but why did I read the whole post and not just stop… That’s pretty funny that your brain told you to stop the bike even though on TV it was a vehicle that needed stopping. I always think it’s weird when I’m drifting off to sleep and I kinda dream of tripping or stepping in a whole and my whole leg jerks like it’s real or something. Don’t know why I dream of this as it barely happens in real life, and even weirder no matter how hard I try I can’t conciously get my leg to jerk that hard and fast. Funky.

That’s called a myoclonic jerk.

I almost fell off the treadmill twice while watching The Forgotten. Just those out-of-nowhere surprises that trip me up.

I figured it might be a spoiler for someone out there like me who doesn’t always watch things on time. Don’t worry, I didn’t give away too much, and now at least you won’t be surprised and fall off your bike. Tonight I’m watching the season finale for CSI from last Thursday while I ride. I’ll try and avoid any mishaps.

awesome, I always thought I had some kind of tripping phobia I didn’t know about. Thanks
