Steve, I’ve done Philly twice, and the weather has been good. But you can’t count on that. But you can count of it being nice and cold. IF you want to hit your goal time, don’t get caught up w/ the speed of the crowd at the beginning, sure you’ll feel good, but you will pay later, and positive split.
Be conservative, and you’ll start picking people off in the park. Which is a beautiful area.
There is a sketchy section around mile 5, where you go around some stairs that jut out into the street which is cobble stone. Most people run over the steps. It’s just a few.
You come back past the museum one final time, and head out to Manyunk, which is VERY exciting. Tons of people, cheering. It’s nice and flat along the Skuk River, but when you get closer to Manyunk, there is a gradual climb (kind of like a false flat), so let your HR go up, and suck it up.
Enjoy the run, it’s a fun course.

------------optional. note: the steps are kinda worn; if you do it, make sure you look down at the steps. (I run steps all the time & still managed to trip there)
