Anyone doing Philly Marathon? (1)

I am going to try the half marathon next Sunday not the whole. I am working my way up in distances.

I’m planning on doing the marathon in Philly next weekend. Planning on going out with the Cliff Bar 3:20 pacing group and hopefully negative splitting the race.

Good luck!

I’m not, but a friend of mine is… and he should do really well.

I’m doing the 1/2 as well. Hoping for a guaranteed NYCM entry for next year (1:21:00) but it’s looking more like 1:23ish. It looks like a good course … too bad they couldn’t cut out the climb after the zoo. I’m curious how the logistics will work with the 1/2 and full starting at the same time but in what looks like different places, and slightly different routing after 10 miles. I’m anticipating a lot of confusion when the course splits and also a lot of pissed off fop marathoners having to weave through the entire 1/2 marathon field (if in fact the start is at the same time in different places).

I have not really looked at the course, elevation wise or logistics. Is this a hilly half? I did see we start the same time but I wasnt sure how the courses vary.

I was planning on doing the full, and then my plans were derailed when I was hit by a sanitation truck during a cycle last week. Nothing serious…but I banged up my right knee badly enough to keep me from running for a bit.

I am (was) as well until I was hit with a nasty case of Plantar’s. Physio, rest, and ice have really helped so I am still hopeful I will make it t the line. Great race and hope the weather is nice for everyone.

It’s not hilly at all. Other than the one 1/4 mile rise that I’m referring to around Mile 9-10, a few rollers going up 34th St, and a very short incline up from MLK/West River Drive near the finish, it is pancake flat. Should be a pretty fast course, although not quite as fast as the Philly Distance Run which bypasses the hill at mile 10.
