I know this is a shot in the dark, but I though I would ask anyway. My Thule Peloton bike racks are a little too long for the car (Honda CRV). My rear window hits them when I open the liftgate. The liftgage probably goes up 90+% of the way before hitting them. I tried putting them backwards, which eliminated the problem but it’s extremely loud that way. I was thinking about having an auto body guy cut them down about 2 inches to eliminate the problem. Has anyone done this before? Any other solutions or should I just keep them on backwards and turn up the stereo?
Thanks,
JB
as long as the racks securely hold your bikes and are, in turn, held securely to your car, making them a couple inches shorter shouldn’t matter. IIRC, the racks are made of aluminum, so a hacksaw should work fine. file down the edges if needed & save yourself some $$.
