I’m considering to buy a training plan from training peak in Ironman categories. My question is how is effective the training plan is ? is huge difference from any training plan that i could find online or book? I’d like to hear your opinion and feedback on it.
It will be a lot more specific and give you suggested workouts for each week. How specific it is will depend on who wrote it. But some plans are specific to a particular race and your level and how much time you have to train.
The only thing it won’t provide compared to having a coach, is feedback on performance, and adapting the plan for your specific needs. Read a book like “The Triathletes Training Bible” (yes I’m biased) and you can learn how to adapt the plan and coach yourself effectively.
Most online plans or those in books are very general and just give a guideline for duration, mileage, and a framework for periodization. I also think they fall short of trending your training from less to more specific. Too little intensity most of the time to get the best adaptation in the least training time.
