Anybody using Mavic for training wheels?

Have a set of Mavic Ksyrium Elites on my road bike, and love them…have never had any issues.

Need a set of trainers for my tri bike, was thinking about picking up another pair, or perhaps the cheaper Aksiums.

Anybody have any experience with Aksiums, or thoughts on using Mavics as trainers? Worth the cost?

I’ve been using aksiums for 3 years now. No problems. True as ever.

I think I read on ST that the Askiums are actually more “aero” than the Ksyriums. I train on the Ks and love them. Check out Neuvations as well- great bang for buck and great support.

I have the Ksyrium Elites as well. I think they’re great. But, if you want a good training wheel for a good price the Aksiums would be ok. I think the Ksyriums are a lot more expensive than the Aksuims. So from a price point perspective I’d go with the Aksiums.

I train on the Mavic Ksyriums and have done so for the past 4 years. I 've robably put on about 50-60000km’s on them and they are still fine.

I have never had any problems with the hubs , spokes or trueness.

I would definitely recommend them , but cannot comment on the other wheels mentioned.

thanks all.
aksiums can be had for about half the price of ksyriums on ebay.
aside from that, a set of trainers for under 200 is a great price i think.

I train on the Ksyrium Elite’s - I weigh 190 and live in NYC and the things are totally bombproof. There is no pothole they can’t take. I have not had to true them once in the 3,000+ miles I have had them.

Do any of you race on them as well?

I’m in the market for a new wheelset and just can’t bear to drop >$1K on race only wheels, so I’m leaning toward a set of used SL or Elites. From all accounts both seem like good options for the bulk of my training rides, I just need to convince myself they are sexy enough for race day.

I trained on Mavic Comsic Elites.I’am very happy with them two seasons of training on the them and no problems. You can find a set for about (400.00)

.

I’ve been training on the same set of Elites since 2003. In that time I figure I’ve logged 25,000+ miles. Weighing in around 200lbs I am not light and some of the bumpy roads I find myself on can be minefields.
The first two years the wheels were used for all of my bike adventures; training, racing and riding the bicycle treadmill (aka the trainer).
I can’t speak to any comparisons of aeroness but I can say that these wheels have been very good to me. They’ve taken some big hits and held up very well. I don’t have any experience with another brand or model of training wheel because I haven’t had to.

I would say the only draw back for askiums are weight. I have an older pair and they weight 2kg+
